this hotel was in the middle of the city, which is why we got it. We drove to brussels so it was also convenient that there was parking 58, a garage right around the corner that charged 15E for 24 hour parking. I usually like hotels to have 2 things: #1 Breakfast included #2 Free wifi, or at least a computer in the lobby available...this hotel had neither. Breakfast cost 12E a person a day, and internet was 10E per day. the price was great for the location, 55E (off season)...there were posted prices of 250E which we were told was for busy season...the people working there seemed nice.

The Astrid is a conveniently located hotel in the centre of Brussels, just a couple of minutes walk from De Brouckere metro station (where the premetro trams linking the gare du Nord and the Eurostar terminal at Midi/Sud intersect with Metro Lines 1 & 5 that go out to the main European Commission area around Schuman, so it's ideal if you are travelling to see them on a tight budget. It's within 10 minutes' walk of the Grand Place.

Rooms are clean but simple, with a small TV. The area is safe enough, on a quiet street with little traffic. Rooms are supplied with an unusually large safe, but the wi-fi access is quite expensive, as is breakfast if you are not on an inclusive tariff. (There are several places selling coffees and pains au chocolats nearby.)

Service is a little so-so - I had to ask for a receipt for local taxes the morning after I paid them in cash and the reception speak mainly French.

The room is smelly the pillow are terrible which i asked for another pillow and disguating blanket the furniters are very old.. And the rain sinking from the roof and there is metal water pipe just next to window it makes big noise just like someone hammering a met..you cannot sleep at all with that noise!!
Only the Good thing is central..

When we arrived the cost was not as stated on our booking form and when enquired the staff seemed a bit annoyed saying it was taxes etc, but this still didnt add up and we had been overcharged. We let it slip as it was only 5/10 or so euros..
The hotel was small but clean and tidy. Nice shiny floors and they clearly work hard keeping it clean.
Our room was basic but well kept and had many different tv channels to browse and a safe free of charge. There wasn't any WIFI though.
There was parking but you had to pay extra and pay extra for breakfast so we didnt choose this and found plenty road parking in the area which was fab as only charged you between certain daylight hours.
The location was excellent though with lovely cobbled streets and right outside the market- about 5 mins walk.
Would recommend as a one nighter or business.
