“Les Bluets is a cozy, clean and conveniently located small hotel, efficiently run by a charming woman.”

We absolutely enjoyed our 10 day stay at this small hotel. Everyday after a long walk or a trip to another city, we had pleasure to return to Les Bluets. Our room was cozy and warm and welcoming. Breakfast is served every day by the very accommodating owner, whom we really enjoyed getting to know. She is knowledgeable about her city and was very helpful in all respects.

“Great value B&B. No problems with Host”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2010

The host of this B&B (not hotel) is wonderfully sweet and contradicted all of the posts I read prior to booking this hotel. If you treat her with respect and appreciate that you are essentially staying in her house, you will have no problem. She did get angry at two men who left the door open in the evening after returning, but she explained in the morning that she was stolen from in the past when the door was not closed completely.

The price is extremely cheap for this area (near Louise and just off the Waterloo ring road) and it is only a block and a half from the metro. The bed in the room I stayed in (4) was large and comfortable. The bathroom was smaller but included hot water at anytime.

“You should never pay to be treated so badly!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 May 2010

There are no other hotels that I have stayed in that bring back such bad memories and feelings of anger! A recent pleasant visit to Brussels prompted me to add my own 2-cents worth on this 'hotel' which is really a B&B/guesthouse.

I stayed at Les Bluets in May 2002 (I can't select the correct date from the menu). I had read a review in the guide TimeOut Brussels that led me to book. The guidebook did note that 'young people and smokers' were not welcome. I''m not a smoker and was about 30 at the time so I thought I was out of the young crowd which I equated to 'student/backpacer' crowd.

The owner/landlady is horrible and a real bully. She disliked me immediately. I speak French and was polite to her. From reading the other reviews I now know I am not alone in receiving such treatment. The room was fine and as I remember the location was convenient for me meetings.

Things that really irked me were
1) she asked for my passport -- reasonable as some countries require hotel/B&B owners to take down identity info. However, instead of copying it, she retained it and refused to return it until I checked out. I now know this was not legal for her to do.
2) At breakfast I was told where to sit at the communal table (fine) but I was not allowed to have everything that was on offer to her 'favored' guests (all of whom were 55+ years old). Thus, I assume you need to be in that age range to not be considered 'young'.
3) I had requested in advance about whether the hotel could store my luggage for a few hours after I checked out. I was told it would be fine. However, on the day she made a huge scene but I refused to budge on that point (I couldn't drag my luggage to a job interview!).
4) Paying with a credit card was an issue as other have stated.

When I arrived I was casually (but nicely) dressed. Clearly she deemed me to be a irresponsible miscreant. Again at breakfast I was presentable but had not put on my suit for my job interview. Her attitude towards me completely changed when she saw me in my suit and found out I was going to a job interview. Too late lady!

No one of any age needs to pay for a service and be treated so rudely and with such disdain. I've honestly not encountered anyone like it anywhere else in the world.

“Not for a relaxing vacation”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2010

I had a good stay at this hotel, but would not recommend for a relaxing travel. If you try to sleep day time (like I did trying to get back from a night trip), you will hear the owner scream at the staff and the visitor none stop. Plus they are doing some repair so there is a lot of noise. So yes you can rely on the comments about the lady owner, she is very.....particular. She is strick, scream and that can get annoying. Some of the rooms are very small (my case) and some very large, so specify wich one you would like. They call that a hotel but it is a guest house really. Internet connection is free and breakfast included. So for the price you pay it is worth it. The house is located not to far from everything but anyway the metro stop is 5 minutes walk away. So if you are a business traveler I would consider this hotel, if not I would avoid this hotel.

“ITS A MUSEUM! FANTASTIC!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2009

we stayed at les bluets for three nights and were flaberasted at how beautiful this small hotel is.. the proprietor is full of personality, she comes across strong, but is so sweet and devoted to her clients comforts. every room is a masterpiece complete with kitchenetes...stuffed full of georgeous antiques, stained glass and plants. its like staying at someones home...she has a chair lift for all the stairs making it easily accessable. the location is within walking distance to all the shopping and restaurants...and only two blocks from the metro... fantastic beautiful place...highly recommended...
