I book the hotel … via HRS for 48€ (single room with the breakfast) as a 3-star hotel.
Arrival/Position/Parking
The arrival to the hotel is quite easy with GPS, the hotel is placed optically not far from city centre, however the district is not the very best looking one. The hotel owns a parking with big door for 12€/day. Checking was smooth, the hotel seemed to be used and worn-out on the first impression.
Room
The first impression had been confirmed by entering the room. It was very cold there, because the window had not been closed tight. I tried it than with all my power, one hand pushing second hand pulling. I succeeded after approx 5 minutes of fighting. There were signs, that other had also tried it before.
Cleanses was not bad, along the worn-out things you accept little bit more dust...
Sleeping conditions Despite the closed window, there were noisy from the street like I slept in a tent. The bed was large and finally I slept very well (maybe because I was tired). There were not internet at the room, a wifi against an extra charge was in bar.
Breakfast
was adequate to a 3-stars hotel, I can evaluate it with my best rating against the other items.

Conclusion
Everything in the hotel was the same level, but it was not the level of a 3-star hotel. I would rate it with 1 or 2 stars, the price was good for the conditions.

Went to France on a month long visit to my daughter. We decided toward the end of our stay to visit another country and chose Belgium. Via the internet we reviewed some hotels that suited our budget and chose the Van Belle (3 stars). Approaching the hotel I was filled with a bit of apprehension as the area looked decidedly dodgy. The facade of the hotel was fine, but the sidewalk outside was in a mess. On entering the hotel lobby I was pleasantly surprised to find the area warm and welcoming, with friendly staff at reception. the rooms were a bit small but suited our needs as we only spent (2) nights there. During the day we were out and about exploring Brussels on their red bus and guided tours. The breakfast was more than adequate and you could eat as much as you like.The passages are all neat and tidy with the chamber staff doing a good job of tidying your room and replacing the necessities.The area is mostly populated by Morocans etc (or should I say North African decent) so the most tasteful food is to be found at the various restaurants. The facades may look a bit grimy and the streets a tad dirty but inside the restaurants the premises are spotless.
I would stay there again in the future and would encourage people with tight budgets to stay at the Van Belle. I did recommend to management,that if the hotel takes responsibility for the general area around the entrance the people would get a much better first impression.

Last April, we did a trip to Antwerp, Bruges and Brussels. We didn't stay at Bruges as it was too costly and decided to drive to Brussels for night. The location of hotel is ok as you can walkdown to the city center, but the neighbourhood didn't look impressive. Thr room was ok, but the mattresses were hard. As we were staying for one night, we thought the room will do. But, at night, as soon as anybody flushed in nearby rooms, you could clearly hear first, the flush and then,flowing water. I couldn't sleep whole night. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody who wants to have a sound sleep.

Modest, small and a bit worn-out 3-star hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. Although the neighbourghood in Marolles was a bit slummy one, I didn't mind, because of the hotel´s great location not far from La Grande Place and the central station. Buffet breakfast and the lobby were OK.
