“Tastefully done with themed rooms and little touches to make a difference!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

20yr old male travelling with 60 yr old mother
Seemed very reasonably priced for what it is.
A few minutes walk to the closest Metro and the bus from the airport stops pretty close too. a stones throw from the palace too...yet nicely tucked away.
Helpful staff (well equipped with maps etc) and great breakfast (young Thai boy working during breakfast was particularly nice and helpful).
Lovely courtyard and communal areas.
Rooms aren't expansive but big enough but very nicely done up and each one is themed ours was split level which was really nice (not sure if there are single level rooms for people who have difficulties with stairs: they were a bit steep and small).
I recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

“Good quality 5 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Very impressive hotel in excellent classic styling. Rooms are large with most of the facilities you would expect, apart from coffee/tea making facilities. Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Nice garden area, good bar and restaurant. situated between the centre (Grande Place) a 20 minute walk and the European Parliament quartier (about 10 minutes walk) the hotel is not ideally situated for sight seeing.

“An exception in price and quality in Brussels”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Located close to the EU head offices and the quaint Leopold district this very beautiful and affordable hotel is a must stay place in Brussels, not only it is close to everything as well as so close to the grand place square and the touristic activities. The room as not large but comfortable with the amenities such as a long bath tub and a towel heater. The only issue I ran into is the fact that the front staff had little or no knowledge of the history surrounding them while vein very helpful. We rented a car however, we found very quickly that this hotel was perfect of couples and is very quiet day or night. The hotel is a must in Brussels!

Room Tip: The first floor only has four rooms so its much quieter

Dear Guest,

We would like to thank you for your detailed feedback we received trough the Tripadvisor website and the nice comments done.

We are sorry to hear that our services were not completely at your satisfaction and we hope you will accept our most sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.

We have a card with the explication of the internal environmental policy concerning the change of bath towels and bed linen so it could be that the towel change was not proceeded because of the position of the towels in the bathroom. However, on a simply request at the Housekeeping department, clean towels are immediately brought to the room of our guests.

As we are currently working to keep up the high level of services; the feedback of our guests is very useful information for future improvements.

We sincerely hope this will not affect your hotel choice whenever returning to Brussels and that you will give us the chance to prove you that the comments of our guests are taken seriously.

Looking forward to the pleasure of welcoming you back at the Stanhope Hotel, we remain,

Yours sincerely,

The Stanhope Management Team

“Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

We booked at Stanhope only as an alternate choice since our chosen hotel was fully booked. We did not regret it.

We were given a nice two storey bedroom – which was a nice asset since it works like a suite (i.e. you do not get the mess of the « night part » before the room gets done). Average size to Bxl standards. Beautiful (if a little bit worn) upholstery and bathroom. Soundproof windows and blackout curtains.

Pros :
- staff was very nice and helpful. In a warm, natural, easygoing way. A special hello to Roger ! Concierge was knowledgeable and loved his city, providing great addresses and advices .
- Private parking (25€/day). NOT easy to access, via a steep and narrow corridor.
- Location : about 8-10mn walk from Théâtre du Parc, the Palais Royal and Gaulois, 20mn to Sablon, less than half an hour stroll to Grand’Place and Ste Catherine.
- The patio terrace is beautiful and feels like home. Weather permitting (which, halas, wasn’t the case), barbecues are organised every fridays. Pity we couldn’t enjoy it… and yet another reason to go back.
- Good warm breakfast.
- Excellent 24h room service.
- Last not least, the umbrella provided inroom : definitely useful.

Cons (if there must be):
- the remote control of the TV actually interracted at the same time with both TVs. We found a way to avoid that by leaving a thick screen in front of the IR receptor of the downstairs TV.
- Storage was just about enough for a short trip. For more than a week, the only cupboard would have been definitely a little too tiny.
- No tee facility (but a well catered minibar).

All in all a very nice, welcoming, discreet hotel. It may have 140+ rooms but does somehow exhude the atmosphere of a family run hotel.
