I did not book this hotel; I booked the hotel Derby (see my negative review about it), but they had overbooked and so I ended up in this hotel. I noticed that the Internet was not included in the price and I kindly protested, because in the price I booked for the Internet was included. The man at the reception told me that it was not his business, I had an agreement with the other hotel (from which I was just basically kicked out) and he did not care about this. He also added that the price of his hotel would have been 10 € cheaper, but he made me the same price of the previous hotel (without the internet, of course). When I tried to explain that I did not have any previous agreement with the other hotel he cut short the discussion and asked his helper to take me to the room. When I was up in the room he approached my colleague, who was waiting for me and told her that I should be more polite with him.
So I disagree that the only good aspect for this hotel was the personnel, I found them incredibly rude, unpolite and unfriendly. If there was an issue with the other hotel I think he should have solved it with them, instead of blaming the customers.
The hotel was smelly in the reception and in the corridors. The carpet was old, dirty and worn off. The room had a window on a balcony with a fire exit that was accessible from other levels (and perhaps from the back lane of the hotel), so I did not feel very safe, even though I could not open the window (so there was no real fire exit). The toilet was OK, clean and the shower was working. The breakfast was also OK.
