“Bring ear plugs - you will need them .”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Ok i am a self employed business person want to make a profit for my company by keeping costs down including hotel bills .
Unfortunately you get what you pay for especially this hotel .
On the upside the location is central and breakfast although basic comes included in the rate .Which seems to be less common these days . The rooms are 'ok' , jaded , needs a revamp but I am only interested in having a bed to sleep on and wifi .
However the walls between the rooms are unbelievably thin !There was one particular neighbour who just checked in and I believe was particularly louder than the average neightbour regardless of the thin walls and it got to the point that I had to change rooms because she was annoyingly loud ( non stop talking and singing etc etc ) . Unfortunately the receptionist would not allow me to change rooms because ' I was already using my room' . But how would I know if she was loud unless I was in the room .?

I noisy neighbours is not really the hotels fault but I was hoping that changing rooms would rectified that .

Also I not keen on the handing of the key over when you have to go out because when I wanted to get my key I had to wait ages because the receptionist was talking to another customer . Fair enough I was probably not in a great mood as it sub zero temperatures outside and I just want to go to my room and crash out .
But the key thing needs to change .

I had a bit of deja vu with this hotel and then I remembered many years ago that I have stayed here before and on that occasion the receptionist was extremely rude because they made a mistake with my booking .
And now I will make a written note not to stay here again - unless each room comes with complementary ear plugs .

“Ideal location - Lacking in basic facilities”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Stayed at the Hotel Opera mid-week using the family room No 316.

Room was very clean and spacious. Beds were comfortable. No view other than the rear of facing buildings. Large 'double sink' bath/shower room.

What lets this hotel down is no drinks facility what-so-ever. To go out for the day and not to be able to come back to your room and make a hot drink is a throw-back to the very old days of sea-side B&B's.

The room also lacked power points. Just two.

Breakfast was pleasing, if a little limited. The very small breakfast room reminded me of an English country tea room!

Overall the stay was passable, but we would not return.

Again photos can be very misleading!

Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

“Fair and reasonable close to city - quiet”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

we stayed here in October 2011 on a LONG vacation (4 months away). It was so easy to find, close to the main town square which is really amazing and I cannot believe brusselles is left off so many tourist destinations.

The Hotel staff was veru accomodating, helpful and good with directions. it is 24 hours reception. rooms are tired but there is free wi fi. there are SO MANY inexpensive eateries out front you would need a lifetime to explore and none are expensive.

Whilst I was shocked on first entry after a day or two I warmed to this place and have to admit as far as a Hotel goes, it was better than my London experiences and I would stay here again. safe and secure and NOT NOISY yet in the heart of everything.

PS there is a 24 hour parking station 3 minutes rom this hotel.

“Great location and free wifi but that's about it.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Hotel Opera's location is great. It's bang in the center, just minutes away from the Grand Place, and right next to a lively street with restaurants and bars. This is very convenient, however it does mean (on weekends at least) that you could spend part of your night listening to loud inebriated characters having fun below your window.
The whole hotel is very dated, and we couldn't find one step on the stairs or one part of the floor in our room which was completely flat; the whole place seems to be tilting in different directions. Some might say it gives it charm.
Breakfast was very disappointing, mostly because the room was rather small, completely overheated, and totally full of guests looking semi bored with the few pieces of toast and the juice machine which was reluctant to give out any liquid. In fact, one must be liberal with their definition of juice in order for this to qualify as such.

Overall we were glad to have found a reasonably priced place to spend the night at the last minute (we had booked that very morning), however we will not be going back as we were not impressed enough with the whole experience.
