“Tired hotel that is more 2* than 4*”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2010

I stayed here for one night on business. I certainly wouldn't have stayed a second, and I have now asked that this hotel be removed from the list of approved hotels used by my company.

On a business trip, I'm not expecting grandeur from the hotel - I want a clean, comfortable room where I can prepare for the next day's meeting and get a decent night's sleep. However for 165 euros I was shown a small single room that was simply unacceptable. Having read previous reviews on tripadvisor I had anticipated that the mattress might be old. This was indeed the case. The mattress was soft and lumpy but the hotel had appeared to attempt to rectify this by placing upon it a thin (say 1 or 2 inch) foam mattress that was absolutely filthy. I discovered this immediately on arrival as the bed gave off a distinct whiff of urine and having pulled back the sheets it was clear that the source of the odour was this extremely dirty, stained top mattress.

I went back to reception to request another room. I was subsequently shown an identical room, but it smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke. At this point I had made the mental decision to move elsewhere, if necessary out of my own pocket. I was then shown a third room which the receptionist said was one of their new Executive rooms and this was in fact a great improvement. I don't know the tariff but it was presumably more than the price I had paid (the receptionist said she would let me have this at the 165 euro rate). Even so, there was no way that this room was to a 4* standard. Tired furniture and twin beds pushed together to create a double ( but each bed still with single sheet and single duvet).

Breakfast was a dismal affair - a selection of limp processed meat and dried pastries.

In its favour, the hotel has a nice location next to the park. The bathrooms, as I saw them in each room, also appeared clean. However I have given this hotel a 1 for cleanliness because of the filthy mattress, which was simply unhygienic; and overall my impression is that this is a rather tired 2* hotel in desperate need of an upgrade.

“O verpriced, lousy service, poor rooms, far better elsewhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

I've stayed in over 20 Brussels hotels and this is by a long way the poorest. My room was an odd single affair. The bed is small, if you are over 6 foot tall you will not fit and it is hard to keep the bedding on. Bed was uneven so an awful night's sleep. arriving staff were slow and key did not work. Nor did next key so I was sent to bed with no key and told I could sort this out in the morning! effectively I was stuck in the room and couldn't even pop to colleagues' rooms. Like being on the naughty step!
Breakfast is basic and poor for a hotel of this rating.
Trying to pay in morning there was no one on reception twice when I went there in peak time for checking out. Receptionist busy gossiping elsehwere with cleaners, why bother with customers?
Bad bed, bad service, uncaring attitude there's far, far better elsewhere, never again!

“Never Again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2010

Having stayed at this hotel due to a friends wedding being held here, I would not stay at this hotel again. Staff are the most rude, unfriendly people I have ever come accross. The 'Room Service' offered is actually food that is from a local takeway restaurant & when my husband complained that the food was cold the staff said it was not their fault because the food was from outside the hotel & they did not cook anything on the premises..It does not state this anywhere. The duty manager told my husband he was a liar and to go back to his room when he started to complain to her. The hotel is a disaster. It gives Best Western a bad name. NEVER AGAIN

“Classy hotel on great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2010

On our way to Germany, we ended up in Brussel due to a snow storm. We were forced to here. The 4 of us (2 adults and 2 kids) were forced to stay in 2 large rooms, each with 1 King bed. It was not possible to have a room with 2 strollers.

We had to pay 179 Euro per room for one night. Rather expensive. Maybe stay there next time for a better rate.

Breakfast till 9.30. However the waiters stop refilling the buffet at 8.45. So at 9.15h there is almost nothing left to eat. :-(

The room is very large, larger as regular in a hotel. The bed is comfortable. The bathroom is a little outdated and need a update. Broken tiles and black corners in the showers. Although clean.

The hotel is located nicely opposite to a large park. The road in between in moderate busy. The area is a little remote. You can take public transport to the centre.

“the price was not clear”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2009

We came one week-end, a special offer was written on a board at the entrance of the hotel with chalk. In fact the paid price was few euros higher. Except this bad surprise the hotel was ok, we really enjoyed the park (just cross the street !). Very few shops/restaurants in the neigboorhood, and quite everything is closed on saturday. Few metro stations from a more living center...
