“Charming old 'Grand Hotel'”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 February 2012

The hotel is clearly stunning with its old and opulent decorations, large and elegant lobbies and - most of all - the atmosphere of the beginning of the XX century. The location is good: very central in BXL (close to the bourse, the grand place, rue neuve, la monnaie etc), although the sourroundings are not the always the nicest. The service is OK and the rooms could be perhaps sligthly improved.

“Doubt there is better in Brussels”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

Fantastic old style hotel...beautiful decoration. Situated perfectly to walk into the mall across the main intersection...with all the great shops, restaurants, and chocolate stores!

Rooms were well appointed. The food was excellent (tomato soup was heavenly!!!)...

No complaints at all, and with breakfast included in the deal, it was well priced too.

“A Great Value for a Grand Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

The design of the hotel lobby, bar and restaurant is breathtaking (it's recommended as a site in many guide books), the rooms are huge by European standards, and the staff is warm and accommodating. It's near everything you want to see in downtown Brussels, has a delicious breakfast in the morning, and a room only costs as much as a smaller room in lesser hotels. A great experience in the Capital of Europe.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street have a great view, but the big Coca Cola neon sign across the street is pret...

“Going back in time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

The Metropole Hotel is like a living museum. It is highly decorated with antique. The reception desk is something you would encounter in a Harry Potter movie (think about the bank). The staff is very professional, nicely dressed and speak a huge number of languages very well.

When comparing prices we found out that booking straight with the hotel gives the best rate. Parking can be done in one of the parkings close to the hotel. We choose Parking Alambra (?) about 50 meters away from the hotel and paid 16 euro per day which in Brussels is not such a bad rate.

The deluxe room we stayed in was spacious, had a huge number of tv channels and most other things you would expect from a five star hotel. To our surprise the hotel provides a minibar with six free drinks every day. A nice bonus and it made us feel even more welcome.
The included buffet breakfast was extensive. We can strongly recommend it – even more as most of the bars and restaurants around the hotel does not seem to open before 12.00 (at least not in the weekend).

And the location is excellent: quite in the middle of the city and next to a metro stop it means you can visit most of Brussels without any trouble. There are some restaurants and bars around the hotel but do realise that most kitchens open only from 18.00 until 21.30/22.00. Early dinner is advisable ;-).

We will certainly return to Brussels and definitely come back to The Metropole.

Room Tip: The hotel does allow pets in the room against a small fee. If you are allergic to animals we think y...
