Unless you get an absolutely amazing deal on the Bedford, I would avoid this questionable property altogether. The location happens to be fabulous and the lobby itself isn't half bad, but after this brief favourable first impression, it all goes drastically downhill. Every part of this hotel is in desperate need of a makeover: my room was not only stained and worn out, it was unclean. The carpets looked as though they had not been changed in 20 years and the shower head was caked in limescale. Out of curiosity, I ventured upstairs to the virtually abandoned 8th floor to check out the gym; all of the dilapidated fitness equipment had been pushed into the centre of the room and was totally unusable. After a 3 night stay, I was desperate to leave.

Location : The hotel is on Rue du Midi, very close to the old historical part of the city. It's a five minute walk to the Grand Place & Grote Markt, and Mannekin Pis. Also, it's a ten to twelve minute walk to the Brussels Centrale Station. There are several nice cafes, bars, and kiosk stores within walking distance so it definitely scores ok on the location front.

Rooms : Not at all upto my expectation. The room was decently sized, but the bed was so small (I mean, even a single person needs to sleep without falling off!) and the blanket was quite questionable. The bathroom was bordering on dingy, and they don't even have a small tube of toothpaste and a toothbrush!! Just one small lousy cake of soap. I'd misplaced my toiletries kit and asked them in the morning for a tube of toothpaste and they said they don't have it at the hotel !!!

Service :OK

Food : I had only breakfast at the hotel, and it was a good spread.

Overall Rating : Stay if you can't find something elsewhere.

I was not expecting luxury after going here for work but this hotel lack some very basic facilities and should not call itself a four star hotel - it simply isn't.
It has useful things like wifi in rooms (very slow), a bar and restaurant and business centre but the in-room facilities are very poor. Even the most basic hotels I have been to have a kettle and tea and coffee in the rooms - this doesn't. The bed was also extremely saggy and uncomfortable (everyone I travelled with complained about the beds) - it also had one measly blanket - no duvet. My room was small and poorly furnished. There wasn't even any information in the room about the area or hotel (easy and cheap to provide) and the minibar was an empty fridge.
The breakfast had reasonable choice and the location was fairly central, although not in the plush part of town. The area was interesting but a bit studenty/dirty - although we found some good bars and restaurants around.
I'm not sure if it was just because Brussels is an expensive city that the hotel seemed poor value but I wouldn't book it again. Also the taxi ride from the Eurostar station was a lot - 10 euros for less than 5 mins.

The Bedford Hotel is a well located hotel in Brussels. It has all the necessary amenities inside and around it. The best part is that it takes about five minutes to reach Grand Place and from there everything else is within walking distance. The room I got was ok for the few days I stayed in Brussels. I hardly spent any time in there, so the décor did not really matter to me. The window faced a large parking house. The bathroom was spacious and so was the bedroom. The bed was not the best, but felt more like a waterbed. The cleaning service was great. Breakfast is included so that is a great start to the day. Pricewise, I was surprised to find out that the room costs 250 per night. I am sure I did not pay for the hotel brand, but more for the proximity to Grand Place. I would recommend this hotel for a stay in Brussels, but I would also warn that people get very noisy in the corridors.
