situated clos to the motorway and next to an industrial estate, this hotel is probably one of the only few solutions in the area of Nivelles. The hotel has a somewhat outdated appearance, could do with some renovation. it is still in the "old style" Vandervalk for those who know what that means. Rooms are OK, but nothing more. Important to get a quiet room ( noice from the motorway !) if you like a quiet sleep. Restaurant is average, but if you don't want to take the trouble of driving all the way up to Brussels, you can have a reasonable meal.

No Leisure centre, out door pool was OK, just weather was too cold when we stayed.

Reception at check-in was friendly and helpful. The lobby with its café and sitting area is nice and the guy behind the bar was friendly as well.
My room was situated on the 3rd floor of the 2nd building, on the rear side of the hotel. Although the highway is near it was very quiet.
My room was spacious and standardly equipped, a typical Van-der-Valk-room. The bed was comfortable and everything seemed to be ok. But when I entered the bathroom I got a little bit frightened. It was really old, it hasn’t certainly been renovated for more than 20 years, the wall tiles looked horrible and it was everything but comfortable. The floor was not clean, neither was the toilet. It might be possible that this came from the water hardness, but anyhow, it didn’t look inviting. When I left the hotel in the morning, I could have a look to other rooms and I saw that some of them had renovated bathrooms which looked ok. Try thus to get a room with a renovated bathroom.
Another negative point is the internet: you can get a connection from all rooms, but you have to pay too dear! 20 € for 24 hrs or 35 € for 48 hrs. And it’s not usage time, but time limit, means the connection expires 24 hours after the first login… Internet connection can’t be purchased at the reception, but has to be done from the room with the credit card.
Breakfast costs 10 € extra, but I didn’t have one. The restaurant seems to be nice, but I didn’t try it, I preferred to go dining to the (very picturesque) city centre.
The location of the hotel is good, but it depends on what you are looking for. It’s located near to the highway exit; just on the opposite side of the street is a commercial centre with a supermarket. The city centre of Nivelles is less than 2 km away. By the way, the hotel car parking is free!
All in all, the hotel is just average. But alternatives in Nivelles are rather rare…

Hotel:
Good service, Friendly staff willing to help. Most reception staff are English speaking. They will organise taxis if necessary. Good restaurant with pleasant waiters. Fairly good value for money. Meals come with large bowls of chips!! Hotel is opposite the Nivelles shopping centre and about 30 minute walk to the centre of town (very pretty Abbey of St Gertrude). Telenet Hotspot Internet cards available, cards from reception. Nice bar / lounge area. Tourist information and pamphlets available.

Long Term Apartment:
Good experience. Off street parking, close to the town centre (5 min drive) and Parc de la Dodaine. Close to Nivelles shopping centre with Delhaize (grocery shop). Basement / Laundry needs a tidy-up, but not serious. Iron and Ironing board available on request. Need to reset your key card each month. Many garages close by. Very convinient to get on and off the freeway to Brussels.
