“In the middle of nowhere”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2010

It would have been nice if there had been even a shop within walking distance, but, alas, no. Our party was there during a period of very bad weather - hence nobody really wanted to venture out. Some asked the hotel to call taxis, but got nowhere as the hotel said they were too busy..... ! Hence people had no choice but to eat at the hotel which, when fairly full, seemed unable to cope. One party of 4 booked a table for 8.45pm, and finally were fed at 10.30pm.
Rooms were adequate, though both mine and somebody else had to be swopped as the lavatory didn't function, and another room was swopped due to inadequate bathroom cleaning.
Breakfast was good, and rooms had hospitality trays, but there was little else to recommend. Close to the R1 ringroad, it is certainly a base for exploring other parts of Belgium, but that's it - no more!

“Good basic hotel for travelers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2010

The hotel is in a community that is part of the city. The hotel has excellent directions on how to get to the tram. If you don't want to eat in the hotel, it is a walk to other places. Hotel food was o.k. but not marvelous. Small room. This is a basic hotel with nothing to do around it. It is best for those who want a place to stay while out sightseeing in the city all day.

“Great value, especially with car”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2009

Ok its in a technology park way outside town, but its 10 mins walk to the tram station which in less than 20 further mins has you in the centre of town. If you are travelling with a car and are not a multi millionaire then I would highly recommend this hotel to you. If you are looking for pampering and a luxury hotel break then I wouldnt. It does what it says on the tin ie gives you a freindly, safe, comfortable room that doesnt cost too much, has good access to the city and has all the basic things you would like in a hotel room ie internet, tv, tea/coffee, european king size bed, and very important to me a bath.
Ok its not the ritz, but my car loved it, I loved it cos my car was safe and staying safe for free, and we were happy cos we could get in and out of the city quickly and cheaply from a very cheap base.
And to be honest does anyone actually want to spend loads of time at their hotel when exploring a city, no you just need a comfortable, affordable, safe and convenient option, and on all those regards this hotel ticks all the boxes. And to be honest I did a lot of research before booking here, and this was the best place to tick all my boxes.
Overall, if u are travelling with a car I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel, if u are on foot, then somewhere else is prob more suitable.

“Not Bad ForThe Price”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2008

I stayed for one night when I first arrived in Belgium., then stayed for two nights prior to heading back to the states.

A little FYI - It wasn't until I took a cab back to the Berchem train station the next day that I realized the taxi driver from the previous day charged me 3 times what it should have been and took me the LONG way. I guess the African gentleman assumed I wanted a tour of the city. From Berchem train station it should be about 6 Euros. From Central it should be about 11 Euros. Ask before you get in a cab what they will charge you and if it is higher than what I have above, totally call them on it.

Anyway, I arrived much earlier than I expected. I tried to check in about 9 A.M. I was told the room wouldn't be available for several hours, which I expected. I had breakfast then just sat in the lobby and started to read as I was exhausted from the flight and really had nowhere to go. The young lady at the desk was great. She had them make up my room right away and got me in just before 10 A.M. I was quite impressed.

So, I come back the next week for 2 nights before I fly back to the states. The first night, around 9 P.M., I hear a bunch of people in the hall with a bunch of noisy young children. These kids continue to run up and down the hall making all sorts of noise. I finally go down to the front desk to complain after an hour of this and am told it will be taken care of. At 11 P.M. I go back down and tell the front desk I want to be moved to a different floor because these kids are still running all over the place. I make a comment about making their parents control them and am told that the parents have gone out. I actually got the feeling that the kids belonged to hotel staff. I am given a room on the third floor and the rest of the night is fine. The next morning I go to take a shower, and as I try to adjust the shower head, it breaks off in my hand. It is cheap plastic. The other room I have had in this hotel had sturdy metal shower heads. When I ask the front desk about getting it replaced, I am basically told "tough luck" as there won't be any maintenance person until the next week.

For the money, the hotel is fine. I found the men at the front desk to be OK until I had any problem. After that it was as if they couldn't care less. I would probably go back for a night or 2 at a time in transit but would never stay here for any length of time.

  • Liked — Clean and a good staff for the most patr.
  • Disliked — The crappy way they handle problems.
