Trusting a couple of positive reviews on this hotel, my boyfriend and I had decided to book a room for 3 nights. Huge mistake!

I quote from the website of this hotel (History section): 'After a complete renovation and decoration "Hotel Diamond Princess" opened its doors'. Well, when we opened the door of the cabin we were given, we found a cubicle with hardly enough space to walk around the bed, very cheap furniture, a repellent bathroom with cement floor (no shower desk, just a plastic curtain), dirty carpet and a useless TV.

No other rooms were free that evening; the following day we were shown another identical one, and a second one which was a bit bigger, and had tiles in the bathroom (wow!). We took it. However, it turned out that this second room was on the same side of the disco bar of the ship, so until early morning we could 'enjoy' the music and the steps of people going up and down the iron stairs next to the room. The room was of course equipped with useless TV, and in the bathroom we found nicely folded the dirtiest towels I've seen in a hotel. All this, for the nice price of 82 euros a night for a double room.

Yes, the location of this hotel boat is good, very close to the historical center of Antwerp, and the breakfast is quite rich, but, after all, I would not suggest it for a 'romantic stay in Antwerp', to end this review with another (misleading) quotation for their hotel website.

After many visits to Antwerp I have finally found a hotel that is conveniently located to all the nightlife - and it's a ship! Rooms are small cabin-style but the beds were very comfortable and you have all you need. The breakfast was probably the best my friends and I had whilst we toured Europe. A vast range of cheeses, rolls, eggs (cooked various ways) and bacon. A most enjoyable stay at the Diamond Princess.

location ok, bit of a run down area around the boat but handy for the old town.
Rooms in reasonable condition although my tv didn't work at all. I did ask them to fix it but no-one tried.
NO hot water for two days in the bathroom and even when they got it working it still took an age to warm up.
Noisy!, if you are sleeping towards the stern you need to be aware that there is a loud nightclub which basically goes on all night. one of my party was unlucky enough to be at the stern and gave up trying to sleep at 4.30 am and went to reception to ask to be moved (which they did).
None of the bars on the boat were open at all during our 3 day stay.
Breakfast was good.
We felt that taking into account the overall poor quality 57 euros a night was a bit steep.

Great location,good bar, misses out slightly on finishing touches, ship is a little tired, the comptuter sysytem in five stays has not given me a bill yet!
However ideal spot with good parking,access to Antwerp and ring road and plenty of good restaurants nearby.
