At first sight, Hotel Industrie is not very inspiring especially if, like us, your satnav takes you to the rear of the building (and, let's face it, neither is the name!). However, as they say, one should not judge on initial appearances as a warm and friendly welcome awaits you at the hotel.
The hotel is located about 20 minutes walk from the centre of Antwerp but a tram, which goes to the centre, stops about 100 yards from the front door (very frequent service).
We had a comfortable room on the first floor which had a large en-suite bathroom (with bath and shower). The owner was worried that it might be too noisy at night but, if it was, we certainly didn't notice anything. The owner is a very friendly lady who provides a good self-service breakfast for 5 euros per person, which seemed good value to us. An additional bonus is a free computer, with internet access, in the hall. Also, about 500 yards from the hotel is a very large square which provides free parking 24 hours a day (or you can pay to use the owner's parking facility). One slight blemish, our bath didn't have a plug so make sure you carry one just in case!
When we first arrived, I couldn't understand why I kept bumping into rather strikingly good-looking people on the stairs... It subsequently turned out that a number of those staying in the hotel were attending an annual tango dancing event!
