“Not good”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 March 2011

Having a booked room in Bruge the following night, I decided to book into this hotel without a reservation. Initial impressions were not good. The hotel is a bit of a walk from the main centre, and isn't easy to find. Reception is just a desk, and is very plain. The rooms are not much better. Neither the corridors or the rooms have any character. Its not a good sign when you book in, and can't wait to book out. The hotel I stayed in Bruge (which was in the centre, and cheaper) was a palace compared to this place.

“Avoid this hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2010

FIrst impressions were not good. On finding the hotel (not well signed, especially in the dark) the entrance could only be described as shaby. The reception desk consisted of a basic kitchen/canteen type table. The reception booking system consisted of a handwritten notebook. There was also a peculiar odour which I could not identify. The receptionist was friendly.

On entering the room I found it was very dirty and cold and the central heating was not working so I asked to move room. The room I was then given had working heating and was cleaner, but very sparcely furnished with the lowest quality furniture. The rooms are very dated decorated in Beige/white and battleship grey, as were the corridors. The bed was too hard and the pillows too soft!

The hotel advertises a bar but it must have been closed during my stay as I could not find it, and the hotel is not big! There was no minibar, no room service, so the only available liquid refreshment came from the bathroom tap.

The rooms were not double glazed, so noise from the street easily entered the room, not cndusive to a good nights sleep in an uncomfortable bed.

Breakfast consisted of a cold buffet, including rockhard rolls and crusty Croissants.

This is a low-end hotel charging quality rates, ripping off it's customers big time. Far better hotels are available in Antwerp for the same/similar rates, In my opinion it is only worth 2 stars.

“Terrible hotel....not even worth one star”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 August 2010

This hotel is an absolute nightmare. Stayed at this hotel weekend of 21 August 2010. This hotel is not even worth a one star....between the vomit in the hallway and the bedbugs in their suite, this hotel is about as bad as you can get....and that all for a mere Euro 150 per night. If do decide to stay at this hovel, do not stay in room 205B because the bed is infested with bedbugs...which I unfortunately found out after it was too late....

“Fabulous service, friendly staff, good location, tired and dated rooms.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2009

The price for this hotel was almost half of neighboring small hotels, so we chose this one. Our online reservation request was answered within minutes. All staff were warm and friendly and helpful. Absolutely perfect! The location was quite close to the main shopping areas and very good restaurants. The room (suite 201) was next to the laundry - where most hotels put people with children. We had read that the hotel was in a 16th century building, and were looking forward to a charming room. But, alas, we were given a room in a much later (1980's?) addition with absolutely no character. We did see some old beams in another hallway, so the other rooms (not given to people with young children) might well have the character we were looking for. The room was large and basic. There was no in-room coffee/tea service, which one tends to expect with a suite. Room service was very prompt, though, in bringing up a pot of coffee when asked for. The bathroom was clean, but mildew stained and the standard of finish was poor. The bed was comfortable and clean, but with ripped sheets and skimpy pillows. The parking garage was very small for our admittedly large vehicle. Compact cars should have less trouble and more remaining paint after leaving. Breakfast was a quality buffet with crispy croissants, good coffee, and once again impeccably friendly and efficient staff. For those on a budget this hotel couldn't be better.

“Not bad, not great”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2009

I spent a week in this hotel. It's quiet and comfortable, conveniently located midway between the central station and the city centre. That said, the claim to four stars is unjustified; there would be fewer complaints on this site if it presented itself more modestly.

The room furnishing is basic. The WiFi service was mostly unusable. There was no iron in the room, and ironing was only available at a charge. There was no shower curtain in the bath. Sound insulation was poor. Mosquitoes were seemed to be a problem, though a plug-in device was effective in keeping them away.

All in all, it's good if you are happy with the price and your expectations aren't excessive, but bad if you expect luxury.
