Our stay at Ambassador suites was perfect. For the price we've payed we offcourse didn't expect a top-end hotel. When we arrived early in the morning our room (appartment) was allready available. So we dropped our luggage in our spacious room on the 2th floor. Everything was clean and neat. The citycentre is 15 minutes by foot. And the receptionist/owner Patrick allowed us to check out at 11 o'clock in stead of 10 o'clock. He was very friendly and helpfull. The only thing is that the hotel isn't located in the citycentre. But I can recomment this hotel to everybody! So the bad reviews are not our experience. We would love to come back! Thank you Patrick for a nice stay!

Came as a group of six, arrived in the morning and after calling a number someone came to let us in. The suite was huge, clearly a converted restaurant with star attraction the industrial kitchen including meat locker. However, the kitchen facilities were actually quite poor, with few utensils, no oven and a hob which didn't work until we asked for it to be fixed. One proper bedroom, and some odd beds laid out. Very cold apart from under a heater, where it was warm.
150 euros, which was cheap for us travelling as a six, and in fact there were eight beds and the three sofas converted to beds too.

I have visited this place a couple of nights every week for the past 6 months for work. I always had mixed feeling about this place. I nevertheless always came back. First of all you have to realize that it is not a hotel but more of a service flat. You can however easily use it as a hotel for just a single night or two. Lets start with the pro’s.

The price for short stays is unbeatable. You get big rooms. Even the smallest studio is bigger than most hotel rooms that cost 4 times as much and have a sitting area with a couch, eating table and chairs. If you book a big studio you just get more empty space in the middle of the room. It is a little pointless unless you want to bring your pool table. The 1 bedroom apartment should be your pick for long stays >1week, but for short stays the small studio is big enough. You get a little kitchen with two hot plates, a fridge, a microwave, a big closet an ironing board and an iron. The room is clean enough. It is a 10 minute walk to the central station and the shopping district. Parking is possible in the streets around the hotel for 3,50 EUR per day. No need to fill the meter. Just pop in 3,50 in the morning and you are good until next morning. I always book 1 or 2 days in advance and there are always rooms available. The main positive thing just is how much you get for the money you pay. There are some points of improvement.

They need to do something about their internet. 50% of the times I was there it was not working or the wifi signal was too low in that particular room. They have upgraded their wireless routers in 2012, so there is a good signal now on all floors but it still isn’t working all the time. You get a month and 3gb for 5 EUR (should be free in this day and age) or enjoy their free wifi service and wait 5 minutes to open a single page. The TV is small and still one of those boxy types and the TV reception is not good on all floors. Only the basic channels are available. The lower rooms on the front side do suffer from some traffic noise. The road in front of the hotel is a busy road. Check in and check out times are limited.

I recently booked a room via the booking.com web page at this hotel, the booking site send me a confirmation, I got onto a train in Budapest and head to Antwerpen, I arrived at around 9pm that night at the hotel to find their reception closed, so I could not get into the booked room, I phone an after hours number and was told that the hotel cancelled my booking due to some problem authorising my credit card, so I had to find another hotel at that hour of the night, which I did.
I later noted that this hotel still took the payment from my credit card, even though I did not stay there due to them cancelling the booking, and reception closed, and no arrangements made with me.
When I contacted them to inform them that I do not accept this payment, they told me that I made a booking and they took payment against my credit card as "no-show" penalty fee, they toook the total original amount for the entire booking, and refuse to refund me. I also read other review now on the booking.com web about this hotel, and have others with similar problems, so please be warned not to deal with this hotel, since the are crooks, and will take your money without providing any service!!!, there are many other nice hotels closer to the train station, so, avoid ambassador suites at all cost!!!
