I often choose not to stay at the typical conference hotel and my visit to the World Forum this week was one of them.
I can highly recommend the family run Staten. At 57Euros per night it was very good value for money. The room was quite small, but perfectly large enough for me as I spent little time in it. Everything worked, was clean and tidy etc. I had a shared toilet with a shower in my room, but that wasn't an issue.
The local shops and bars/restaurant were very pretty and nice to browse around. There is a Chinese Restaurant opposite although I preferred to try two excellent Italian Restaurants within a few hundred metres.
My walk to the World Forum was approx 15 minutes and easy to find. When I needed a taxi reception had one for me there in less than five minutes. The couple who seemed to run the hotel were very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was typical of the area, cold meats, cheese, fruit, etc.
I would most certainly use this hotel again when in The Hague and wanting to be near the World Forum.
Tip 1: The hotel is accessed by a very simple single door next to a computer shop. It is easy to miss!
Tip 2: The main station is approx 15 mins by taxi away. Costs between 12 - 14 Euros.
