“Alternative great accommodation for the World Forum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

I often choose not to stay at the typical conference hotel and my visit to the World Forum this week was one of them.

I can highly recommend the family run Staten. At 57Euros per night it was very good value for money. The room was quite small, but perfectly large enough for me as I spent little time in it. Everything worked, was clean and tidy etc. I had a shared toilet with a shower in my room, but that wasn't an issue.

The local shops and bars/restaurant were very pretty and nice to browse around. There is a Chinese Restaurant opposite although I preferred to try two excellent Italian Restaurants within a few hundred metres.

My walk to the World Forum was approx 15 minutes and easy to find. When I needed a taxi reception had one for me there in less than five minutes. The couple who seemed to run the hotel were very friendly and efficient. The breakfast was typical of the area, cold meats, cheese, fruit, etc.

I would most certainly use this hotel again when in The Hague and wanting to be near the World Forum.

Tip 1: The hotel is accessed by a very simple single door next to a computer shop. It is easy to miss!

Tip 2: The main station is approx 15 mins by taxi away. Costs between 12 - 14 Euros.

Room Tip: The hotel is on three floors, which wasn't a problem for me, but with quite a narrow staircase i...

“BRILLIANT!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

This is a wonderful place to stay. The location is perfect - a lovely area with good transport links to the centre and the beach. Also handy for museums and the world forum or other conference venues. The owners are just lovely - it's like a home away from home. The rooms are clean, beds really comfortable, and large. Breakfast is also very tasty - well worth it! IF YOU GO TO THE HAGUE, STAY AT STATEN HOTEL! Marion even got up at 5am to make sure we had breakfast before we left!

Room Tip: room 3 very large, great view over the street.

“This is an wonderful place to stay”

This modest hotel provides very good value and is cosy, quiet and very clean.
Access to many places is within a few minutes walk to the Tram. The neighborhood has a wide variety of amenities, restaurants, shopping.

“Staten is great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2008

We stayed for two nights at Staten and chose it mainly because of location. Staten is a typical small European hotel with creaky floorboards and rooms with character. But it is much better than most in that it is well maintained and comfortable.
Our room was generous size and was in the corner so had lots of windows. An unbelievably small bathroom turned out to have a huge shower. The room was well heated (luckily since the weather was awful) and well ventilated.
The free breakfast was great, typical of European hotels, except that the coffee was real (not instant) and there was some hot food too. The hotel is right on the street so there is a bit of traffic noise, so light sleepers should bring ear-plugs.
The best part was the staff/owners - they were very friendly.
One word of warning - it's late night shopping on Thursday night - so pay for your parking or you'll get a parking ticket like we did.
