“Nice stay, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2012

We arrived for an overnight weekend stay around 3pm. We were given the keys to our rooms and we went up 4 flights of steep stairs. Upon entering the two rooms, we saw that they were not ready. By the time we trekked downstairs, the hostess was waiting for us, telling us she had just realized the rooms were not ready. We asked for other rooms rather than waiting for them to be cleaned and we were given two more rooms on the top floor of an adjacent building. These rooms were fantastic! They were the last two at the end of the hall, one on the corner of the building with alot of light and windows. We were very happy to have changed rooms.

The rooms were very clean and neat. There was plenty of room to spread out in the corner room. Each room had a quirky touch like a funky chair or table. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well.

Caution - if you don't like stairs, don't get a room up top. I counted 120 stairs up to the top floor. Steep stairs for the last floor that were almost like walking up a ladder. We didn't mind but some visitors might not appreciate this.

We had the breakfast buffet and were very happy with the offerings. We felt it was worth the money and it kept us from having to leave the hotel early to find other options.

We used the hotel parking and were pleased with that. The staff even let us leave the car there until we left the next day, after we'd checked out.

The staff at the desk were all courteous, helpful and pleasant. They provided directions and information about Den Haag for us.

We found it a bit far from downtown but only because it was cold and wet. In nicer weather, we'd probably not mind the extra walk. couldn't figure out the transport system so we walked everywhere.

I'd definitely go back!

Room Tip: If you don't want to climb stairs, request a ground floor room!

“Great! Would stay again with no hesitation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Great location, Ok price. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a apartment which was nicer than the one we live in back home! I didn't want to leave! Unfortunately we were absolutely stuffed from a full on day at Dutch Water Dreams water park (highly recommended) so we missed the breakfast. Staff were very friendly. Location is 3 tram stops from Den Haag centraal. Too easy.
Good pizza shop very close. Nice little roundabout/garden/water feature place to sit right next to the hotel.

Awesome. I wish i didn't miss the breakfast!!

Bed was amazing.
Bathroom was massive and very well styled.
great couch and living area.
several tv's.

the one negative was the cleaning lady walking into our room at 9am when we were still asleep... but that's minor compared with the good stuff!!

Will stay again for sure.

Room Tip: spend the extra for an apartment. it IS worth it.

Lovely hotel, especially rooms on very top floor. Friendly staff and good location - walking distance to town.

“Comfortable but affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2011

I stayed at the Hotel Sebel in the Hague last month for 5 days. The service is good and staff very friendly. While the reception is open between 7am to 11pm, all guests are provided keys to the main entrance so that you can enter at all times. Rooms are comfortable, nothing very fancy but adequate with clean linen, basic toiletties and an adequate breakfast. It is connected to the centre through tram lines. Though it does not serve lunch or dinner, but there are many restaurants and snack joints nearby. For the price, it is an excellent choice. Like all other Ducth hotels in this price range, some of the rooms are small but that is soemthing you have to get used to in the Netherlands specially on a limited budget. Recommended for business travellers but they do have larger rooms at higher prices.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms are better as you avoid the steep stairs that are common in the Netherlands.

“Excellent Value, A caring Family run hotel, in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 May 2011

Hotel Sebel is a small group of buildings linked together. If you require an elevator, you must specify that since only one building and only some rooms in that building have elevator access. Being on a budget, I selected the Single room, even after reading about it on Trip Advisor. IT IS SMALL. You can almost touch both walls if you extend your arms. It was clean and well laid out. The internet access was excellent. It was a great value for one person on a tight budget.

Due to unexpected circumstances, I ended up staying an extra night in a different room. It was HUGE compared to the small single. I did not try the breakfast since it was rather expensive.

One of my days there I was ill, and the owner was so helpful in getting me a tea kettle and checking to see if I needed anything else. The family is very caring and concerned about their guests. I highly recommend this hotel. It is an excellent value in a great location.

Room Tip: check their rates on several internet sites
