“Maybe just unfortunate with a small room...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Firstly, I want to say this is a great hotel. Ordinarily it would get 5 stars from me because everything was excellent. However, I think I was just unfortunate to be allocated a very small room - made even worse in my eyes by the fact I am an SPG member and this was on the 'SPG floor'. So, that alone brings it down one star. But, if / when I go back to the Hague, i will definitely stay here again.

It was a business trip, and I arrived on the train into Central Station. Although cold, it was dry, so I decided to walk to the hotel. It took just 10 minutes and was easy to find. I was immediately sat down at reception and check-in was smooth and quick.

Like i said, I was disappointed with the room size, but being English (??) i didn't complain. It was very well appointed, with a well stocked mini-bar and complimentary still water. Everything about the room was clean and tidy, and as I later found out, the bed and pillows were of the usual SPG standard and I had a fabulous nights sleep. The in-room safe had an electrical socket on the inside, allowing you to charge your phone / tablet securely whilst out at dinner or breakfast - a simple touch that is not found everywhere but is greatly appreciated.

The bathroom was incredibly small. Almost uncomfortably so. However, everything was clean and tidy. There was no separate shower, instead there was a huge rainforest shower head above the bath - this was great.

The bar is expensive - EUR7.95 for a pint of beer - but being on business and able to claim expenses it wasn't an issue.

Breakfast was good - a fine selection of hot and cold food, all fresh and well presented. I've maybe had better at other SPG hotels, but this was still good.

All in all, another SPG success, and one which I will certainly stay at again.

Dear Traveller,

Thank you very much for your kind review.

It is great to read that you, as a well appreciated SPG member, enjoyed your time with us.

Please note that because of the fact that we are a monumental building all of our rooms are different in size but also in coloring and furnishing. So, during your next visit, it would be our pleasure to show you a different room which might be even more convenient for you.

Also, although not all of our rooms have a bath, all rooms do have this amazing rain shower!

Kind regards,
Pierre-Henri Bovsovers

“An excellent hotel, friendly and clean.”

The hotel benefits from not being apart of a big chain, clear attention to small detail always make it a pleasant place to stay. Cigar club on a Thursday is special and unique.

Went to Des Indes as part of a business trip. Very comfortable, luxury hotel. They gave me the honeymoon suite on my first visit, altough I was by myself. The swimming pool is small but it has a powerful jet that makes it feel larger because you swim "against the current". There are complementary fruit in the rest area near the swimming pool. Great location for visiting and business, we walked to our offices. We had no breakfast included in our room rate.

Room Tip: Lower floor rooms overlooking the back street are noisy because of the bar which is just across the...

“A Gem in Den Haag”

This hotel was completely renovated a few years ago. It is pricey in season, but off season it is a good price. We were there in December 2011. The spa area was completely closed - a disappointment. Our room was lovely with a great view of Denneweg. Good windows keep sound from the street from being an issue. The shower door did not seal well, however, resulting in water all over the floor with every shower. We did not eat at the hotel - it is quite pricey but there are lovely options very close by. The staff is extremely helpful and makes staying there a great experience. The rooms are lovely and the bed is luxurious. This is one of our favorite places in NL.

“Always worth a visit, the only place to stay in NL for me”

I have stayed here quite a few times over the years on business, most recently May last year. This hotel has a real charm about it, staff very welcoming and professional ,gorgeous decor throughout, great place for meetings, super location and easy to travel to central station etc

I shall be looking forward to a return here in February. Its one of the few hotels in the world where I actually get a good nights sleep which is probably down to the quality of beds/linen. Cannot recommend Des Indes highly enough.
