“Friendly and clean but a bit expensive.”

We were here in off season and had a large dorm to ourselves. The communal areas are great, really good vibe and comfortable to chill out in. The hostel is in a really good location, nice street with a supermarket next door and some good restaurants in the area. The staff are friendly and helpful and the showers are hot! It's a short walk to the beach and the breakfasts are pretty decent in terms of what you would usually expect in a hostel. Downsides are that the rooms do not live up to the quality of the communal area and so in my opinion it's a bit over-priced. Our room had triple bunks with no rails so if you were on the top and had rolled off in your sleep you could have done some serious damage! There was also no storage area at all in the room which wasn't a problem as there were only two of us but had the room been at capacity it would have been a different story. Overall great for what we wanted during off season, a bit pricey and not sure what it would be like if at capacity in the summer.

“A nice hostel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

It's a nice place. It has "surfers" atmosphere and really cool common areas. It has a big guest kitchen and the breakfast is fine. The staff was a bit a unfriendly and we had a little problem relating the payment, but not a big deal.
The dorms are pretty small, which is uncomfortable when opening your baggage. The bathroom is quite small too, but clean.
In general I'd say it's a good place. But maybe If I were to come back I would reconsider and check other places.

“JorPlace is My Kind of Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

JorPlace Beach Hostel is the easily the best hostel in Scheveningen, Holland--especially if you are an adventurous traveller with a taste for extreme sports, or simply a traveler looking to rest up and explore one of the most popular Dutch coastal towns.

The rooms and dorms are fun and affordable. The staff is highly hospitable, helpful and outgoing, and the main common area--the indoor and outdoor bars--are cozy by day, and a party by night. After cooking a meal with some of your new international friends, enjoy some of the best beers on tap and socialize around the fire pit!

The location is perfect for walks to the beach or the bay--be sure to try some of the best seafood in the country at one of the many restaurants nearby. And, all the other services you could need or hope for in Holland are a short walk away.

And, if you're an extreme sports enthusiast, you'll find yourself surrounded by like-minded people--including the owner himself! I will definitely recommend JorPlace Beach Hostel to any and all travelers that head to Holland.

Room Tip: I like the private rooms on the top floors--many of which have addorable views of the surrounding to...

“It was alright”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

I stayed at Jorplace Beach Hostel last week (December 2011) - to be fair it probably isn't the best time to stay near the beach, but it's one of the few hostels in The Hague.

The hostel was alright. It includes breakfast which is actually pretty good for a hostel (meats along with bread, cereal, tea, coffee, etc).

The problem I had with the hostel was the triple bunks. I originally booked a bed in a four person dorm, but was told on arrival they no longer do these so she gave me a slightly cheaper rate and threw me into a 6 person dorm. The room was tiny and with 6 beds in there I have a lot of trouble believing 6 people could even fit in that room along with luggage. Luckily for me it was winter so I only shared the room with one other person - I would not advise staying here in summer when it's full, would be insane and really hot.

Everything else was great. The people there were really friendly, and the reception people were incredibly helpful - I hired a bike on my second day which was relatively cheap.

All up, it's an alright hostel - it has the basic amenities, but the rooms could do with massive improvements.

“Unfriendly Hippies”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

We stayed at this hotel in early Sept. We rented the VAN as our room of choice. Great location and cool hotel. The issue I had was the people that were staying there. I found it to unfriendly. The people there were not interested in chatting with new people and just hanging out with the people they already knew.
We figured since we were staying at a fun, cool hostel this was going to be a perk (meeting new people).
I have nothing bad to say about the hotel. It was clean, staff was nice, bathrooms were clean and it had free breakfast. Just a weird disconnect with the people staying there.
Cost 65EUR/night
