We stayed in Emma for two nights in June.
The hotel is very dated and basic. If you look for a wow factor or if you like nice modern décor do not book there!
The reception staff was very nice and helpful. I think this is so important - you can stay in the great looking hotel but if staff is rude/ignorant it spoils the whole experience.
The simple hotel can become a great place to stay if the staff is nice and care about your stay. We arrived early and were prepared to just drop of our bags and head off for a walk and bite to eat, but the reception organised our room to be cleaned immediately and we were able to check in early.
The hallways look pretty shabby, lick of paint would go a long way. The inside need to be simply refreshed to bring cleaner feeling to the old hotel.
Please note we booked a superior room, so can't comment on their standard rooms. Our room wasn't large but not a box either , it had a very nice bathroom with a shower and a big corner bath - definitely favourite part of the room! The bed was very comfortable, the room was simple but clean and bright.
The breakfast was a cold buffet with teas and coffee, choice of breads, pastries, cold meats, cheese, jam and fresh fruit. Nothing too hectic but enough for a tasty quick and light morning bite before grabbing a wonderful lunch in one of many restaurants.
The hotel is on a very busy road but with windows closed we couldn't hear any street noises.
We really liked the hotel staff and location, we were able to walk from and to train station - it took us no more than 10 min! We also could walk to all shopping and restaurants areas. And all other attractions could be reached by trams.
It wasn't a picturesque nor romantic location but we were specifically looking at centrally located hotels within WALKING distance to and from the train station and close to shops and restaurants - hotel Emma was perfect for the price we paid.
The free and speedy Wi-Fi was definitely a bonus!
Room Tip: book Superior room if the rates are good!
