One night stay for a business meeting, which was also in the hotel.

Check-in was simple, reception staff were very pleasant and there were no issues at all. My room was large, I don't think it was a standard room though, I never asked, warm, cosy and had a few English speaking channels on the tv which I watched before going to sleep. Flat screen tv too. Didn't hear any noise from the room which was facing a nice Christmas tree.

There is a couple of hours free wireless available also, I never used this so can't really give a review.

I had a lovely 3 course meal in the hotel, tomato soup which was very, very tasty, pork tenderloin cooked to perfection, nice and moist and so full of flavour and an ice cream sundae. I can't tell you what the price was for this as it was provided by a client but I wouldn't of imagined it was cheap.

Breakfast was a buffet with all the usual things you'd expect, yoghurt, bacon, eggs and pastries etc...

Check out was fine, no issues either.

Hopefully next time I visit Leiden I can stay longer at this hotel.

Although, in general, this price does not seem exaggerated for a junior suite, in this case, it definitely is overpriced.
The spacious room contains a small double bed, an open bathroom with a small, uncomfortable, bubble bath and a, rather old-fashioned, separate shower with inadequate air-extraction.
Only 1 extra pillow in the cupboard, very basic bathroom amenities, no coffee/tea facilities, no free Wi-Fi, does not live up to junior suite standard.
The whole room screams for a complete make-over!
Breakfast, however, was, in the Valk tradition, very good value for money, fresh products, excellent quality, nice service, if only there would have been fresh orange juice, I could have called it a perfect breakfast!

We came to Holland to visit family and had booked the Hotel Leiden because of its convenient location, near Wassenaar. Upon arrival we found the reception staff very unfriendly and indifferent. I had specifically asked for a courtyard room but we were given a roadside room.

The room was stifling hot and therefore we had to leave the balcony door open at night. This did not reduce the temperature in the room , but encouraged mosquitos to fly in (probably due to the proximity of the water) . At the end of the stay (7 nights) my son had more than 40 bites. Also it meant the room was very noisy.

I was told this particular room (rom 213) was a "luxury" room but I failed to see what was the luxury about it. It seemed very basic and standard.

The breakfast was good. We had dinner only once in the hotel. The food was good but the service very poor, slow and unfriendly, almost rude.

All in all, the hotel promised a lot but especially the temperature of the rooms made the stay rather unpleasant. I believe he hotel would benefit from air conditioning and staff training. Their attitude leaves a lot to be desired.

We stayed here for 2 nights, the week before Easter. We found the location of the hotel very convenient for the places we visited...Keukenhof, Delft, Madurodam, Ghouda (we had a rental car). When we returned from our "touring" we enjoyed eating and relaxing on the restaurant patio, which was right on the canal. The breakfast in the morning had a nice variety of hot and cold items...a good start to the day. We very much enjoyed our visit.
