Hotel Golden Tulip is situated in the center of City , railway station is just walking distance. Hotel rooms and embiance is excellent and in resturant one can have delicious food and rates are just comparable with other such proprtis. If you are planing reserve your room in advance as it is a very busy property.

I wanted a peaceful hotel outside Amsterdam from which to do day trips on the last four days of my holidays. We usually go to Delft for this but I wanted to explore an alternative location as I anticipate that I will return to the Netherlands.
While I love staying in historic buildings, by the time I booked this I wanted not to lug my bags up to an attic bedroom and I was prepared to splurge a tiny bit and buy myself the kind of hotel room that I normally stay in only when my employer pays for it on a work trip.
This hotel satisfied those needs and more. My room was spacious, quiet and comfortable; with enough lights everywhere to make up for the smallish window. Standards of housekeeping were really high. The bathroom was modern and had enough space for my vanity. Breakfast was excellent -- I especially appreciated the fresh fruit salad. The minibar prices were not outrageous although the high speed internet linked to the TV was expensive at what appeared to be 20 euro a day. The staff were pleasant and professional.
On my first night in the hotel restaurant, my menu choice involved something I cannot eat and this was readily and creatively accommodated by the chef who prepared a stunningly good alternative.
On my last night I just wanted a substantial but not rich dinner - so the "halibut with cauliflower risotto, carrots and beurre blanc" looked like the best option. When it arrived it looked suspiciously like fish with two veg and the inevitable scalloped potatoes. It looked stunning, but where was the rice? Surely risotto implies a general presence of rice?
When I inquired about the general absence of rice and the single carrot, I was told that the cauliflower bits were "risotto" and that it was merely my opinion hat risotto involved rice. I found this latter suggestion by the restaurant manager to be downright insulting; but to her credit we eventually resolved a compromise which suited me better even though I still had to pay for the riceless risotto.
This little risotto incident was my only negative experience in this hotel. I won't be staying here again.

Despite the tired and rather basic rooms this hotel has pleasant staff and a great location. Being so close to the railway station and a short walk into the beautiful centre of Leiden .

Large range of rooms ranging from basic to suites. Only problem is they don't honour what you book - twice I booked a business suite only to be downgraded to a executive room ("we're busy" seemed to be a typical excuse, and I hold their top-ranking frequent traveller card!)

Rooms at the front overlook a noisy road, avoid if you want to sleep.

WiFi is free but only available to limited rooms, otherwise youbwill have to sit in the lobby to connect.
