“Is this the nicest hotel in the Netherlands?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 June 2010

Probably. At least it is our favourite. Comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff and a great location right next to the sand dunes. The breakfast buffet is just fantastic - it is very rare to get such a wide selection of quality breads, meats, cheeses, fruits, etc. There is even sparkling wine on a Sunday to make your own Buck's Fizz. Try to book a half-board deal for dinner - we have always been pleased with the fare. Downsides - wine is quite expensive and tap water does not seem to be available - you have to pay Euros 3 for a small bottle of filtered water.

“Overpriced and noisy”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 May 2010

This hotel charges five star prices, but delivers three star accommodation. We paid extra for a "First Class" room, but this was fairly small and basic. The bathroom and toilet were tiny and were only just usable. The worst thing about the hotel was the noise. The walls and doors were thin and we were kept awake by other guests entering and leaving their rooms. The extractor fans were also very noisy and could not be switched off at times. Breakfast was included and was okay, although it was rather a fight as the breakfast room barely had enough space for the number of guests. I paid via a well-known booking website and on departure the staff insisted that I had not paid and tried to charge me again. I don't recommend this hotel.

“Hotel does not match location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2010

An hotel in a very nice location; just a minute from the dunes and beach. However the rooms are very basic...typical Dutch style.Narrow beds; thin mattresses, little sound proofing between rooms, small towels etc. When it rains you will not find any comforts in your room! The breakfast buffet is ok with many choices but the breakfast room itself looks more like a canteen; nothing smart here. Staff are very friendly.

“Location right on the beach!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2008

stay 1 night in this hotel.

got a last minute special offer of 80 euro inclusive of breakfast.

the room is small but clean and comfortable.

one guest complained very loudly at the reception about the temperature of the room too hot and no ventilation.

location is nice because it is right at the beach.

there is no ocean view from the hotel.

  • Liked — on the beach and last minute offer

“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2007

The location is excellent, right behind the dunes, and it is a 3 minute walk to the beach. The hotel rents bicycles and it is a nice ride to Vlissingen or Middelburgh. Personell is very friendly. The hotel looks sligthly outdated, but the rooms and especially the bathroom seem the be renovated/redecorated, and they did a nice job with the latter. There ’s a shower and a bath. Although the bath looks tiny due to its shape (very small at one end) it actually works quite well, even for somebody of 1.80 m. Big pre; there is a seperate toilet.
Besides a fridge, the room has tea- and coffee facilities, quite exceptional for dutch hotels! But, the safe was tiny to modern standards. Would have preferred one that fits laptop. Talking about laptop; if you wanted to be wireless for more than an hour, you had to buy a ticket that was only valid for a day. So use it 1 hr on day 1, you cannot use another hour on day 3!
Room 12 also had a tiny terrace, adjoining the garden. Too bad it only had sun in the morning.
The interior of the room is quite bland, and the double bed consists of 2 single beds/matrasses pushed together. I have the impression that it's a Golden Tulip policy to not have real double/queen size beds.
Tv has a very limited remote, only channel up and down. Which, with more than 30 channels, becomes very annoying very quickly.
There is a lot of noise from doors slamming close in the hallway, so bring earplugs.
The swimmingpool is too tiny too swim laps (my guess would be 4 by 6 m), just enough for kids to splash around.
Breakfastbuffet has plenty of choice.
