The format, design and hospitality of the hotel is more like a 2-star Ibis wannabe. In other words, in reality the hotel is scandalously below its 4-star rating.
We arrived at the hotel on a winter's evening entering into a freezing room reflecting the below-degree weather outside. Although we turned the radiator on there was nothing left to do for the rest of the evening but huddle under our quilts and try to get some sleep.
The bathroom, which was quite smallish stunk from what seemed old slimy mop water (?), and the proof of it was that the smell was renewed the next day when they mopped it again.
We were informed that breakfast was til 11 am. But it turned out that it was actually til 10 am from Monday to Friday. We found that out by arriving for breadkfast at 10 am and seeing everything was being taken away. The waitress took it upon herself to inform us that the confusion about the breakfast hour was our fault! (The breakfast buffet itself, is fairly modest.)
Though we'll return to Middleburg for our work, we shall never re-visit that hotel.
