The title pretty much sums up this hotel in a nutshell. Complete disappointment in all aspects. Rooms are also very tired, badly lit, the whole hotel is quite run down (the type that have torn carpets). Breakfast - and Dutch are rightly demanding on their breakfast abroad - offered a very low quality spread.

They could work with some more heating; maybe the staff would also be warmer to the customers.

For European hotels, relatively expensive for its range. And although I usually like hotels that have historic character, the Malie Sandton was very disappointing because the hotel interior looks as if it was cheaply renovated in the 1970s. But my biggest problem was with the accommodation itself: the room had an unpleasant odour, the street was not that quiet although the hotel lies outside the city centre, and the rooms seemed cramped and badly lit.

I stayed 1 week at the Sandton Malie Hotel. A bit old and needs some maintenance but It's a very good hotel:
Room included 2 beds.
TV (i think there was a fee for some channels).
Wifi was free and excellent.
Room and bathroom were clean, Very hot water available all the time.
Towels (lots of), shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hair cap, body cream, and soap.. all available
Towels a bit old but all is clean.
1 problem was that the room was a bit cold and there was no heater, only air-condition. And the hair dryer was not working, staff said i can use one from another room,
There are extra pillows and extra thick blanckets.
Quiet Neighborhood, minutes walk from central city.
The bus that takes you to this hotel are numbered either 7 or 11. The Stop is called oorsprongpark, you have to walk like 1 minute to get to the hotel.
Breakfast was good and enough on a nice terrace. Helpful staff.
I believe that Utrecht is a very safe city.
You have to try the "Santa Lucia" restaurant. It serves very good steak, pizza, chicken...

The Malie Sandin is a great hotel in quiet neighborhood about 2 km from the city center and railway station, but a pleasant walk. Free internet, large rooms, great value and VERY helpful staff.
