“Perfect location”

We stayed in this hotel for a 5 night break. Lovely peaceful location (although building works were going in in the day during our stay). Short walk to the train station (very very cheap trains) to Amsterdam, Utrecht and many others. Lovely place. Very expensive breakfast so we didn't bother. Lots of cafes/food available on the walk to the station. Would recommend.

“Shocking incompetence ruined our brief stay”

We came to the Netherlands to celebrate New Year's Eve in Amsterdam, where we'd been dropped off around noon. When finally we were returned exhausted to the Golden Tulip at around 02.00, we (around 15 couples) discovered that our electronic room keys no longer worked, and that the poor harried devil from behind the front desk had to come manually unlock each of our doors. You might have imagined that this wouldn't have taken very long, but you would be mistaken. Of course at 02.00, every minute spent standing in the hall rather than getting in and getting to sleep probably seems nearer to five minutes.

Otherwise, the hotel is very pleasant. They serve a nice breakfast, and the rooms are comfortable, though the TVs are rigged to get no louder than barely audible.

“nice area for stay”

stayed at the golden tulip on the 27th oct 2011. we only stayed there for 2 nights on a coach tour,found the hotel clean and tidy,we were on the understanding that it was continental breakfast, to our surprise there was egg bacon sausage plus a cold buffet plus cereals /tea and coffee. the only down side was it was stated tea and coffee facility's in the room ,after asking at reception i was told it was only in executive rooms.the bar prices were the same in town as the hotel .

This is a typical Dutch low quality hotel which looks good from pictures but then you get a big surprise once you actually spend some time there.

We spent some days there, with a 2 years old daughter. First they gave us a room with two tiny windows (similar to the boat cabin's windows but with no sea...): so no light, no air. Then they gave us another room with a window that could be opened just a little bit. It was very hot those days and one morning a genius decided to lift up the outside curtains, so the room was exposed to sun all day. Once we came back, we asked to put the curtains down but nobody was able to do it. After two hours (and many other complaints) finally they managed to put the curtains down but in the room it was already 30-35 degrees. The result was that we did not sleep all night because of heat. The day after we got our third room but we had to convince the personnel before getting it ("we have only executive rooms" was one argument: and we had booked an executive room.....).

Breakfast is poor in quantity and quality (Dutch standards...). Furthermore the tables are always dirty and full of dishes, spoons, forks, glasses, used by previous guests, simply because they do not have enough personnel to clean the tables. They do not have chairs for children.

The only 2 good points are the location, in a beautiful park, and the free internet.

It is very unfortunate to hear that you were not satisfied witth your stay at our hotel. I regret that your complaints were not handled sufficiently. We do our utmost to give our guests an enjoyable stay. It is a shame that I did not have the chance to speak to you personally to solve these problems at the time.

Usually, we do get a lot of compliments about our extensive breakfast buffet, the rooms and the service given. Therefore we really regret your review and we hope to be able to proof that we are a full service hotel in the near future.

“Clean and comfortable”

The service was great from the moment of check in until we left. The hotel was very clean throughout and comfortable. The room was quite spacious for a European hotel.

The location was easy to find and good for Amersfoort. We had a car and there was plentiful free parking. We didn't try public transport but for car owners it was right by the motorway for getting around the area.
