“PRICE/ QUALITY: VERY O.K.!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

After reading a lot of bad critics; the truth!
Every hotel experience should be evaluated price/quality!
Everybody who expects a big luxurious room, with unblocked sea views, on the boulevard in a privileged spot, right on the beach for € 79.- , is living in a dream world!
So, what you really get, is a rather small, but very well equipped, clean, room with a perfect bed, extra pillows, flatscreen TV, (conveniently empty) minibar, Wi-Fi, and a, also, small bathroom with a perfect shower.
From the balcony, on the 16th floor, we had a nice view on the town of Zandvoort and in the distance, on the departing airplanes at the airport of Amsterdam Airport.
Breakfast was, like everything else, excellent quality for your money.
All this added to a very friendly, trying to oblige, staff and modest parking prices € 7.50 a day, I consider this a good deal!

“Does this still exist?”

The only good thing about this hotel is its location right at the beach. But the rest of this horrific concrete building is not of this century. Tiny room, bathroom smelling of sewerage, furniture from grandma's days. My suggestion would be to take it down and build something worthwhile looking at and staying in.

“Spacious Room”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

The room was clean and there was a lot of room. It was nice to see both a bath and a shower.
It was quite a walk from the room to the lift.
The breakfast was good with bacon and eggs.
The location is excellent, right on the beach and only a 5 minute walk to the town.
I can understand having to pay for parking during pak season, but at this time I would expect parking to be free - there are no people going to the beach guring these gale force winds!

“worst hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

got an apartment for almost 300 euros, so expected it to be nice. the bedroom was ok with a bathroom in it, so everyone had to go through the bedroom to use the shower. there was a half bath in the living area, but it had NO SINK and it was tiny (I'm 4'11) and barely could move. Oh well, I thought we could just use the kitchen sink that was next to the half bath for hand washing purposes... we tried to open the door to the kitchen and it was locked?! I paid for an apartment? I am used to apartments with kitchens and bathrooms with sinks in it. when called front desk to unlock the kitchen, they wanted to charge extra! asked for extra towels and it took them multiple reminders to bring them. BREAKFAST WAS NOT GOOD, unless you make your own eggs which was an option. to the end of the breakfast I wanted to take a cup of coffee outside to walk along the beach - they were absolutely unfriendly and told me I would have to pay for the coffee because they already started cleaning. Excuse me! they were going to dump the leftovers anyway. unless they were saving it for the next day? Yucks! at other hotels I'm offered to take coffee for to go. ELEVATOR WAS OLD, SLOW, and skipped levels. STAFF WAS NOT REALLY FRIENDLY, and some didn't speak English. we woke up late to check out and called to ask for a 30 minutes extension, and they wanted to charge extra. I have stayed at OTHER HOTELS and was 1 hour late for checkout and the hotel staff was friendly and did not charge us extra. This was a very bad experience with best western and I am never going to stay with them in any country ever again!!! This hotel might only deserve to be called a 2 star hotel.

“Nice view, atrocious hotel”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2011

Hotel and condo's in the same building. Upon check in most rooms do not face the ocean. Requested an ocean room and was advised that only suites had ocean view. Went ahead and took the suite for the quoted 240Euro's. Hotel allows smoking in rooms, all rooms. Hotel elevators are tediously slow and the kind that you used to see in the 80's with the doors you had to pull to open. Lobby is shared with condo owners. Service elevator is in a more prime location then guest elevators. Service elevator is more reliable then guest elevators and there is no restriction for guests using the service elevator.

Room (suite A1) had not been refurbished since the inception of the building. For some reason 2 keycards and a bulky keychain are needed. No presence of any type of climate control. No airconditioning in place. Ashtrays were in abundance. Room decorated with worn carpets, drapery and fake leather furniture. 13" TV in the living room and no TV in bedroom. Matresses were worn out and African orphans would even say: "Nah thanks". Minibar stocked with 2 bottles of water. Called reception for 2 beers and was told to pick them up myself. Checkout at 11am and by 11:15 I was reminded twice that I was still there.

I travel a lot and stay at a large variety of venues from basic surf B&B's to the Peninsula's. In 20 years of extensive travel this has been the worst stay of all stays. The building on the outside looks like an eyesore and it is even worse on the inside.

Amazing that Such a great location with such potential gets neglected and not cared for.

Stay somewhere else!
