“If TULIPS is what you came for, stay here!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

We came with the main idea of being close to the Keukenhof Gardens and maintaining a base to travel around Amsterdam by car. With that in mind, we did many daily trips away from Lisse to Amsterdam, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Volendam, Zaanschans etc.

Parking is convenient if you pick up a rental from the airport, we used our GPS on the X1 and it worked perfectly bringing us "home" to the hotel every time. Parking is free just outside the main entrance but it can get quite full as it is a public parking area. We did not encounter too much problem here.

Checking in was a breeze with the staff. They were very accommodating and understood our needs as a family of 4 travelling with 2 young kids.

First impression of the room, it is okay. Not a room I would splurge on but it worked. It had a kitchenette, fully equipped downstairs in the living room. Also a sofa bed that we hoped the kids would sleep soundly every night! Upstairs, the bedroom had a king/queen size bed with ensuite with a cmbined bath/shower. Basic set up. Full carpetting in the rooms as what you'd expect it to be in Europe. Carpets could be better cleaned but the bathroom was spotlessly white. Although, they could do with providing more toiletries. it wasn't enough to laast a night cleaning up 4 people.

All said, the major plus point for this hotel was the location. Pleasant walk away to the Tulips. Right at the back a small highstreet shopping area and chinese restaurant. I must say the receptionist recommended us a very good place for food. Its a local Dutch pancake restaurant, which serves an amazing variety of pancakes! Its called the Vrouw Holle Pannenkoekenhuis. Just meters away. Must try!

The hotel also provided a good breakfast with the room. Mainly consisting if cold cuts, breads, they do have a variety of Continental breakfast items for guests. It does get very busy during breakfast, which tells me they have a good thing there!

Also, upon the recommendation of the hotel staff also, we went to a themed park called Archeon. For us, it was a totally new experience! Check it out online. The kids loved it and it sure is a fun place. Not your typical Hollywood rollercoaster parks but very well done up and original. It gives you an idea of how ancient and medieval Europe was with lots of interactivity for the kids!

Lastly, after every day trip we did, we were glad to just be back to a nice and comfortable bed.

Room Tip: We had a room with a lounge downstairs (sofa bed) and the bedroom upstairs with the ensuite.

“A delightful experience in a superb setting!”

Having visited Amsterdam with my wife for the first time, we wanted a quality, but quaint hotel to provide a respite after a long day of walking and sightseeing. First off, the location is great because it is only about 20 miles away from Amsterdam. Also, it is far less congested and is located in a quiet neighborhood. Additionally, there is ample parking available at no additional cost. Furthermore, I would like to point out that the staff are indeed very welcoming and polite! After arriving rather late (1230), we were warmly greeted by Lucas, who was alone at the time but still went out of his way to get us checked in and provided a full synopsis of everything. He was even considerate enough to escort us to our room which made us feel very welcome as most hotels just hand you the keys. Our room was exceptionally clean and we had a wonderful nights sleep as the bed had a level of comfort that you just don't find everywhere. In the morning, we went downstairs and enjoyed a great breakfast that included coffee, tea, croissants, bread, cereal, fruit, yogurt, and juice. I would definitely reccommend this place to anyone who desires a comfortable night's stay in a warm and pleasant environment!

Room Tip: All rooms are a good choice!

“Quirky Hotel”

The location is perfect for visiting the Keukenhof Gardens, which were stunning. Do not be put off by the approach to the hotel. You will park in a free public car park and walk through an alley between buildings. Once inside, the hotel is a surprise. It is obviously a conversion of several properties, so the layout is slightly strange, but not in a bad way.

Both the public rooms and bedrooms are decorated in a very quirky unexpected style. Our bedroom was clean and fresh and the bathroom looked brand new and was immaculate. There were a couple of wires sticking out of the wall behind the bed, I assume that the decorating had been very recently done and hope that these would be sorted by now.

The breakfast was varied and very nice and the staff very helpful.

There were quite a few restaurants on the pedestrianised shopping street, we visited the italian which was very good.

“Great !!!”

The location of Hotel is perfect... Away from Amsterdam... But not too far as well. Easily approachable were Keukenholf, Delft, Madhurodam, Rotterdam... The Apartment was well furnished and equiped.. It would have been better had they also cleaned the kitchen vessels, at least once a day during room cleaning.

“Close to the tulips, but horrible mattresses and thin walls.”

You're within walking distance to the tulip park, but the mattresses were horrible and the bathrooms needed updating. We could feel the springs in the mattresses and I tried to put the comforter underneath my body so I could sleep. The walls are super thin and when tour group showed up, we could hear them next door and in the hallways.
