We came with the main idea of being close to the Keukenhof Gardens and maintaining a base to travel around Amsterdam by car. With that in mind, we did many daily trips away from Lisse to Amsterdam, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Volendam, Zaanschans etc.
Parking is convenient if you pick up a rental from the airport, we used our GPS on the X1 and it worked perfectly bringing us "home" to the hotel every time. Parking is free just outside the main entrance but it can get quite full as it is a public parking area. We did not encounter too much problem here.
Checking in was a breeze with the staff. They were very accommodating and understood our needs as a family of 4 travelling with 2 young kids.
First impression of the room, it is okay. Not a room I would splurge on but it worked. It had a kitchenette, fully equipped downstairs in the living room. Also a sofa bed that we hoped the kids would sleep soundly every night! Upstairs, the bedroom had a king/queen size bed with ensuite with a cmbined bath/shower. Basic set up. Full carpetting in the rooms as what you'd expect it to be in Europe. Carpets could be better cleaned but the bathroom was spotlessly white. Although, they could do with providing more toiletries. it wasn't enough to laast a night cleaning up 4 people.
All said, the major plus point for this hotel was the location. Pleasant walk away to the Tulips. Right at the back a small highstreet shopping area and chinese restaurant. I must say the receptionist recommended us a very good place for food. Its a local Dutch pancake restaurant, which serves an amazing variety of pancakes! Its called the Vrouw Holle Pannenkoekenhuis. Just meters away. Must try!
The hotel also provided a good breakfast with the room. Mainly consisting if cold cuts, breads, they do have a variety of Continental breakfast items for guests. It does get very busy during breakfast, which tells me they have a good thing there!
Also, upon the recommendation of the hotel staff also, we went to a themed park called Archeon. For us, it was a totally new experience! Check it out online. The kids loved it and it sure is a fun place. Not your typical Hollywood rollercoaster parks but very well done up and original. It gives you an idea of how ancient and medieval Europe was with lots of interactivity for the kids!
Lastly, after every day trip we did, we were glad to just be back to a nice and comfortable bed.
