The Amadeus Hotel is rated two stars and the following remarks must be read as comments, not as criticisms. The location is on a very pleasant brick paved plaza with the Town Hall at the near end and the Cathedral at the far end, with many pleasant cafe's, restaurants, sidewalk bistros,(hey! McDonald's), taverns in between. The whole neighborhood is zoned limited access to motor vehicles which provided quiet at all hours. The room was quite small, fitted with lamps without enough light to read a newspaper after dark, small single bed with small pillow, adequate sheets and warm duvet. Bathroom properly fitted out, a small shower but with adequate towels etc. Good hot water, but had trouble shaving because of inadequate lighting at the sink. The staff was very friendly, helpful and supportive. The hotel has no laundry/dry cleaning support, but you will be guided to where to find such services nearby. Yes, a two star hotel, no surprises, - but - to reach the first storey of the hotel, where the reception is located, and the elevator to move one from floor to floor (but not to the street) there is a steep and winding staircase to be dealt with, most definitely not for anyone at all handicapped.. Most definitely not for those who have been enjoying hours of the hospitality of the excellent local taprooms. Yes, this is a major complaint. The television is mounted in a corner of the room, by the window, just below the ceiling , say, 60cm (ok, ok 22in) but with over 30 channels of good eurotv, incliding Bloomburg, CNBC, BBC, CNN. There was no hot breakfast, just bread, cold cuts, cold cheese but in a room with a great view of the plaza.
