“Amazing staff and hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

We arrived in the snow to find that our apartment we had rented had no heat and the boiler could not be fixed. We booked a room for the night at V so that we could get on with Birthday celebrations - the staff could not have been more helpful and considerate. We had a basement room that was adequate for the night but not the best for 2 girls getting ready to party - however there was no problem in moving to another room for the next 2 nights! The rooms were clean, the staff were the nicest we have ever met and the tram stopped straight outside the hotel, though we walked everywhere as we were able to explore other parts of Amsterdam that we have missed in previous trips!! We had yet another wonderful weekend in Amsterdam that was aided by the wonderful staff and accomodation at Hotel V - we will be returning!!

Room Tip: If you need room for luggage the basement room may not be the best

“Great stay, fabulous staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

Just had a weekend in Amsterdam staying at the Hotel V. Excellent location, away from all of the vulgar touristy bits. Staff were incredibly attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Well appointed bar and lovely fire area, welcoming after dreadfully cold weather. If it wasn't for the inconsiderate other noisy guests I would give a 5/5. Highly recommended and would stay again

“Great weekend in a lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

Great location, easy walk into the main parts of Amsterdam, or of course you could hire their bikes!
Great restaurants within 5 min walk, nothing was too much trouble for the staff.
Not the most luxurious hotel, but perfectly acceptabel for the price.
Great decor, works really well

Room Tip: we had a room overlooking the main road, but don't worry aboutt this......it wasn't a proble...

“OUTSTANDING STAY!”

While in Europe, I stayed at Hotel V for three days and returned after a short excursion out of country for another four days. I am a big fan of this hotel from the old location and feared that in the move (a while now I know) they may have lost something. Not so! Highlights...my room included a bike (necessary for time in amsterdam); breakfast was delicious and fresh; everyone and i mean everyone working there was friendly and accomodating; speak a little Dutch and they are pleased with the effort. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. My room was very small and for me perfect! i had a nice balcony and view. This will be my requested room always (304). Now, as I write this, please remember that it is all for a great price. I had my laundry done and they even held some large items in between my two stays. They simply never said "no." For more money, I know that there are other places to stay and that must be considered in the evaluation. So, the location, the price, the experience... simply OUTSTANDING!

“Design hotel off the beaten track”

This is a beautiful hotel right in front of a tram stop (Frederiksplein). The lobby is very nice, the bar serves complimentary coffee and tea during your stay; the bad thing is that this only works during the open hours of the bar. We had a bit of an issue with the night receptionist, who took a lot of convincing to give us hot water for a tea when one of our party was feeling sick. He also couldn't help us find who to call for a health emergency. Fortunately, the wi-fi in the room helped us getting it solved ourselves. Breakfast is included (most hotels charge EUR12-18 per person) and it is quite a good value, but it's quite Dutch: no hot items (unless you count getting a bread right out of the oven as such). Also, the toilet drain in the room was quite noisy during the night, which was quite annoying. This was an issue in the first floor, but not when we stayed in the basement.
