Great place, great hosts and fantastic location. Very comfortable and you have a good feeling while staying here. I am 63 and I had no problem with stairs - so no whining about steep stairs.

My husband and I needed a rest and a place that was like home. I enjoy cooking and this apartment had a complete kitchen and everything I needed to do so including the all important oven. The whole apartment was so tastefully furnished and even the floors of the the WC and the nice big walk-in shower were heated. Our view over the canal was gorgeous and the owners owned a very nice canal boat and offered an evening dinner cruise with a wonderful gourmet meal as part of the trip.

the apartment was across from the PO and around the corner from a very nice super market. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to be and if walking was not possible, the public transportation routes were a 1/2 block away.

To us, one of the best parts of the stay were the owners. They were so helpful and so nice, I believe when we return to Europe I would use Amsterdam as a hub and I would return to this little home away from home. I had zero complaints and loved having broadband and cable TV. We were able to wash clothes right across the hall. I was never unhappy here, and I relaxed as was much needed.

My husband and I stayed in Apartment Pearl in the Amsterdam Jewel while visiting in March of this year. The apartment was immaculate and modern and very comfortable. Marten is very helpful and is a lifesaver when it comes to maneuvering up the stairs. The staircase is very steep, but the room and the view of the Singel canal make up for the effort. The bed was soft, there was good shower pressure and even a small kitchen. There is a market a couple of blocks away where you can get staples, such as drinks or snacks. Overall, I was really happy with our choice to stay here. It was a good base for walking around the city and seeing all the sites. It was a refreshing change from the typical chain hotel.

My husband and I spent 8 nights in Amsterdam and stayed at the Amber Apt. It was beautiful. Every morning we had breakfast overlooking the Singel canal.

Service: extremely well run. Marten and JoJo even printed our boarding passes for us
Amenties: toilet paper, soap, cooking utensils, garbage bags, baggies, oil, salt, washer/dryer, detergent, etc ... available. Wireless and cable connection to internet. Excellent if you plan to use Skype to call home.
Cleaning: 3 times while we were there. got clean towels and linen, it was like staying in a hotel
Location: 1 block to supermarket and tram stops. walking distance to almost everything. On our last day we walked to the central train station to get to the airport and it took about 15 minutes.

Stairs are steep and narrow but this was built in 1650. I found it to be a great learning experience on how the Dutch navigated through such narrow staircases!
