“NO STARS IF POSSIBLE !!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

Absolutely terrible !!! The worst ever room I have seen , ever !
I booked the "hotel" months back as it was near a club I wanted to go to , when I got to the s**t hole I was given room S01 a room in the basement... No windows apart from a very small sky light( with no protection from the light at night time)
The room was tiny and walls paper thin , dark and dismal , not bright as described ...
I had to leave and of course NO refund no apology from the Hotel about the room and re-book another hotel which was far far superior !
This dark dismal hole cost me €146 .. yes that much !!!!!!

Room Tip: Dont stay is my advice

“Exceeded Expectations of a Hotel Snob”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

Stayed at this hotel two weeks ago, having left it too late to have much choice of hotels. I am a massive snob when it comes to hotel, and was extremely worried having read reviews of what it was going to be like.

We were four 22 year old girls travelling both to see the city and visit the museums, and go out at night to the bars and clubs. The location of the hotel was perfect - Leidesplein is near and that was where we enjoyed the most. Rembrandt Square was a bit cheesier with some not so nice bars. The shops and cafes around are really great to wander around and Dam Square is not far.

The rooms are small - we were in a four person room, which consisted of two single beds and a bunk bed. The bunk bed didnt have a ladder up but it was just quite comical more than anything. The room was small, there wasnt really room to do much but we just sat on the beds to get ready. There wasnt much of a wardrobe, a rail and a couple of drawers but we were only there four days and so kept everything in our cases. The bathroom was small too but clean - it smelled a bit damp at times due to the lack of a window but it had been cleaned well which was the most important thing for me. The beds were comfy and clean (I checked very closely as soon as arriving!) and although the carpet and curtains was a bit old and grubby it wasnt anywhere near as bad as I thought it might be for the price.

All in all, its a small hotel with small rooms, and could do with a bit of a tidy up, but its clean for the most part, the staff are friendly (might come off a bit sarcastic) and willing to help you with places to go. Didnt make breakfast any of the days but it looked ok, if basic. I would stay here again.

“Avoid this place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

me & my 2 friends stayed here for one night and thank god it was only one night. check in isnt til 3pm,and even at 3 we were waiting to check in for an hour. no secure storage for bags. our room looked cosy until we saw the beds. stains all over the pillows sheets etc. and to make it more interesting we found the graveyard of insects over the walls and ceilings. eating a live by insects at night was an experience too. But one good thing was the location. tram stop just around the corner.plenty of shops and restaurants.

“Tired hotel in a good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

I stayed in this hotel as a solo traveller. The location was good; very close to a tram stop (Keizersgracht; trams 1,2,5) from Central Station and within walking distance of nice restaurants and the central area. The shower was very good :-). The breakfast was adequate, with cheese, cold meet, bread, boiled eggs, jams, museli and fruit salad.
The price was reasonable for Amsterdam.
The staff were often not at the front desk and there seemed to be no bell to ring for them.
The room I stayed in was in the lower level and very small; there wasn't really anywhere to store my case and I had to step over it to get around the room (just as well I had a small case!). The hotel was clean, but is looking tired and in need of a refurbishment.
Free wifi is available.

“Decent hotel for a good price with a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 August 2011

the hotel has a great location, takes few minutes by tram to get to the Dam square or not more than 10 minutes to walk there. The staff was friendly, even though we had some credit card issues it was handled ok.
Rooms are not big which is expected when you look at the most houses in Amsterdam. But it was clean, bathroom was recently renovated, no issues with TV or showe (didnt turn on the AC). New towels every day.
Breakfast was ok, toust with cheese and ham, marmelade, honey and peanut butter along with coffee and tea. I was quite surprised after reading bad reviews here.
Overall ranking is as the title says - good choice for the money spent.

Room Tip: Dont go there if you dont like cats!
