When we first arrived we were shocked at how far from the centre this hotel was as it claimed to be central, but we did not mind so much as reviews had lead us to believe that this was a very nice hotel. The reviews could not have been more wrong! Upon arrival they did not have our details on the system and instead of explaining what was going on the male receptionist decided to sort out the other customerds and then left us standing at reception while he went off. When the problems were finally sorted we got our room, we requested a high floor, but we got the first floor! What a joke! The quilts were urine stained and the spare pillow covers were dirty. The air conditioning was broken so would not heat the room well - not good at the beginning of January! The door to our room did not colse on its own due to a fault so if we had not spotted this then we would have left our room open to everyone, and to top it all of the maid came into the room while we were still in bed! Staff were not very friendly and service definitely needs to be improved! This was supposed to be a nice surprise for my boyfriends birthday but turned into a nightmare!

Rooms were super clean and beds were quite comfy. Free wifi in rooms was very handy.
Like most "matrimonial" beds in Europe - these were two twin beds pushed together but it was still very comfy. The lifts to the rooms were slightly slow which could be annoying when a big group of people was trying to get upstairs.
There are supermarkets and restaurants conveniently close.
Breakfast was great!

Having had a nightmare experience the previous night with a 'cheap and cheerful' hotel in the centre, Blue Tower was one of the few hotels not too far from the centre whilst I was visiting on business.
The receptionist was incredibly helpful (not to mention sympathetic) in sorting us a last minute room and quite frankly, we payed half the price for an incredibly convenient and comfortable hotel.
The beds were great and the rooms were warm and came with all the commodities you would expect.
Despite the change in location, staff were happy to direct us via tourist maps and write out precise directions to the venues we needed to attend. The hotel is easily accessible by the city's Tram services, which proved a very cost-effective method of travel compared to taxis.
In short - great hotel, great staff, reasonable last minute price and not a bad location either.

I have just come back from a weekend away in Amsterdam and stayed at the Blue Tower. Upon arriving at the hotel we were greeted with a pleasent member of staff. We actually arrived at 10am before the official check in at 2pm but they still let us check in to our rooms. Bonus! Not only that they upgraded both rooms to superior free of charge! A further bonus! Rooms were nice, very comfy beds and ensuite (There was even floor warming in the bathroom).

Yes - The location is in a residential area but this did not bother us at all. We had a couple of supermarkets and KFC 2 mins away from us which was very handy. The ride into dam square is around 15 minutes and cost us between 13-15 euros. There were four us so it didnt work out that much.

The taxi to and from airport is around 40 euros which is a slight rip off as it is only 20 mins away from hotel but what can you do!

All in all a very enjoyable stay. Do not listen to bad reviews!
