“Wonderful Location, Great Staff, Recommended!”

I stayed in the hotel for two nights. The overall experiance is very good.
The only negative thing I can say is the facilities are not in their best conditions but it's not too bad...
On the other hand the hotel staff are wonderful, very kind and helpful. They put every efforts to make my stay in the hotel pleasant.
Great thanks to Jason the receptionist.

Spent several days at the Freeland Hotel in early December with my wife---highly recommend this hotel---location is perfect----5 to ten minute walk to museumplein---2 blocks away from leidseplein----knowledgeable,helpful staff ----always courteous and friendly-----rooms quite comfortable---breakfast perfect to start the day------have stayed at several different hotels---all were good but this place is special--if you stay here once, you'll return ---- oh yeah! We did see Sinterklaas while wandering the canals-----Merry Christmas to everyone!

“Love it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 November 2011

I loved this hotel and Manual and Pascale...you rock. Everyone else too but didn't get all names! And isn't this awful, the wonderful man who more often than not served us a wonderful breakfast...I never got your name but love your sense of humor when I mentioned the coffee and the spoon standing up joke. I arrived early so Pascale stashed my pack. Coffee and tea are offered like you have dropped into a neighbors house. "You want a tea?" ( Remembered I don't drink coffee) They shuffle in in the morning like regular people in jeans and sweatshirts. Man, it was great. Our room was small but had a lovely little sun room - threw all the big bags in there and we were good. If you go to Amsterdam to sit in your room all day then this is not the place for you. If you go to see the sights and something other than lounge, then this is it. It is where you want to be and you WILL NOT find more helpful people. When I thought my husband was MIA Pascale was right there with me ready to wage war in finding him until Manual gently stuck his head around the corner and said, " I just looked at the ticket...he arrives tomorrow". Maps, advice, it is all there. A bit noisy at times but if you get in late enough at night, and you will, you will fall back asleep. I can't say enough. It felt like home away from home. Manual, hope you got feeling better quick. I was deathly sick myself the night before we left. Tom talked me into some gravol which is a good idea if you don't have do anything like pack and catch a flight! Highly recommend the hotel and everyone there.

Room Tip: A bit torn. We picked a room at the back on the ground floor but noise from lobby and upper rooms. I...

“'5' star service for a '3-star' hotel :)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

This review is slightly late as I just returned from a week's stay in Amsterdam as I was therefore a major event last week at Amsterdam RAI. I had wanted to spend a few days before the event so stayed for 2-nites from 01-03Oct ... what can I say about this hotel...nothing but praises for most part. Firstly I arrived very early, took the Connexion bus from Schipol to hotel vicinity [which Manuel was kind enough to advise me:] Obviously I stopped at the depot instead of the bus stop in front of the hotel and had to walk a few minutes and not knowing the direction, I decided to call the hotel to ask for directions...Pascale, answered the call and in a very welcoming voice said she will go out onto the street and wave at my direction and upon arriving, she readily helped my with my heavy suitcase up the stairs. Apologetically she said that my room was not ready, but asked if I want coffee and even guide me to a few places.... overall, I find my stay very comfortable, very welcomed and even though its not a 5-star hotel, the service and the friendliness of the staff Pascale, Manuel and others were very helpful. I was lucky to have the single room on the ground floor at the back and it was quiet and slept well. I would admit that its not glamourous or anything but basic and clean and that is good enough for me and for that price [as hotel rooms in Amsterdam is expensive] and the location so close to Leidsplein is really a bonus ....with so many places to eat and shopping....so I highly recommend Freeland Hotel - however, if anyone who expects to have a 5-star hotel environment, go stay at Marriot...I would say that this is like a 'Marriot' amongst the 3-stars [better than some other 3-star hotels nearby].... so you pay what you get and remember if you are not going to stay at the hotel the whole day and dont want to spend too much $$ - then Freeland is just the place for you....and last but not least, its really like a home away from home. Bonus: Free wifi throughout the hotel :) which is helpful for people who needs to check emails or surf the net :)

Room Tip: If you want a single room...ask for Room 3 ....quiet
