If you are looking a budget place with a good location, Crown is definetly it.

Only minuses are that no wireless lan, toilet and shower might be on a another floor, no sink at the toilet to wash hands and stairs are narrow and steep. But considering that this is a budget choice, all these are not too bad at all. Many other hotels are much worse in these. I didn't mind at all walking the stairs to go into a toilet or shower. But definetly not for the elder people and people with reduced mobility.

Plus is a superior location (very near the central station, at the center of De Wallen), good price, warm and clean rooms, friendly staff, no hygiene problems (expect the missing sink at toilet). I didn't heard any noises and i sleep very well.

I definetly recommend this place and would visit again (if looking a budget place).

Popped in there just passing buy. We know A'Dam very well and so we knew what to expect. We were given a good rate, a quire nice room with a stunning view on Oudezijds Voorburgwal which was superb. Room was very cold though and had a shared bathroom (not too bad as only 2 rooms on top floor). We booked in for 1 night initially and stayed over for one more night. Well we would stay there again as I must say most hotels (of the exact same quality) were way more expensive and sometimes located way further away from the centre of the city. Go for it but if travelling in winter be prepared for cold room. Do not expect much please, Cities like A'dam and London are way overpriced and offer very little in return! Have fun!

A group of 20 - 25 year olds, girls and boys, stayed here for two nights on the recommendation of one of the boys who had been there previously. We were initially unsure about the price thinking we could get something cheaper, but i'm glad we didnt - we loved the crown. The location is bang on. right on the river and you can practically smell the bar and the coffee shops right opposite. the bar directly opposite was really cool. the crown is not at all a sketchy area, they guys that worked there were friendly. the bed were comfy, the sheets were clean and although the toilet was out in the corridor it wasnt at all a problem. we even struck gold and got a shower in out room. and sink with mirror. having seen some of the other guests rooms they were all similar and bright and cheerful - basic, but perfect if you just want a place to kip. it's about a 10 - 15 minute walk from the station, and is pretty easy to find after a long day of going to galleries and museums too. however, as someone has already mentioned, the staircase is brutal! very steep but generally not an issue.

you pay for the location, I honestly can't say anything bad about it. Go for it.
