The Collector was a nice B&B that wrapped up our journey across four countries throughout Europe. This B&B has excellent rooms, with modern amenities and lovely finishes. The collections throughout the B&B add a lot of character. The location is also excellent, right off the tram line and minutes to the major museums.

Karel, your host at The Collector is definitely focused on making sure you have an enjoyable stay. When we were there another family with a young child was there and Karel made a point to ensure that their baby was not bothering us (they were a wonderful family - no bother at all), but Karel was very conscious about ensuring that our experience was pleasant, since apparently they don't normally have many kids staying there.

The only bit of a drawback for me, I'd say, was the cook your own breakfast concept. I 100% knew what I was in for before we arrived, but at the end of a two week trip where I hadn't had to cook breakfast...I really didn't want to!! However, the eggs fresh from the chickens in the backyard were delicious!

My husband and I stayed for four nights recently. I can confirm that all the previous positive reviews stand true! Upon arrival, we were greated by the our friendly host, Karel. After showing us our room and the amenities, he showed us where everything was located in the kitchen. The kitchen was always well stocked with juice, fruits, breads, cheese, eggs, pancakes, coffee, and more. It was nice to prepare your own breakfast at your own leisure. He also provided us with info and guidance on the sights we wanted to visit. The wireless internet connection was a great amenity too. We loved our room and couldn't have asked for a more comfortable and pleasant stay. The directions from the airport were very easy to follow. The location of the B&B was very convenient to the museums. In fact, we only used the tram returning back to the B&B in the evenings, after a long day of walking around. There is a very convenient supermarket about 5 mins away as well. The Collector is a unique B&B with everything you need for your stay in Amsterdam. Thank you, Karel!

We stayed here after reading other tripadvisor recommendations and had a wonderful time. Perfectly located away from the main touristy areas of Amsterdam but close to Vondelpark and the museum quarter, the Collector lived up to all expectations. The breakfasts were plentiful and included fresh fruit, excellent fruit toast and other breads, pancakes, meats, cheeses, yoghurts and cereals. The bedroom was enormous with a large and comfortable bed, balcony and very clean bathroom. The collections were very impressive, particularly the clogs lining the stairs. We would happily return again. A special thank you Karel for your generous hospitality.

Our stay at the Collector couldn't have been better! Karel was the ultimate host , from providing a lovely, homey , comfortable place to call our own to being available to help with surprising needs like needing a doctor! We were welcomed as if we had come home after a long trip instead of being a stopping place in between travel. Karel made himself available without being intrusive and yet seemed to know what we needed before we even did. The kitchen was charming, well stocked with our desires and a perfect place to just hang out in between sightseeing. The location was within walking distance to many museums, convenient to public transportation and near a picturesque canal with boats with a hop on hop off philosophy . We loved Amsterdam and hope to be back some day. We wouldn't think of staying anywhere else but at the Collector with Karel!
