The name says it all. This great little find really is something Between Art and Kitsch. My partner and I wanted to celebrate his big 50 in one of Europe's coolest hubs. We decided to bypass the usually stuffy and staid and settled for this gem in the heart of the Pjip. We couldn't have been happier. Our wonderful landlady Irene was there to greet us upon arrival and showed us to our hippy chick room with a great view of the canal and the Rijksmuseum beyond. Everything was clean, comfortable and cozy. The ensuite bathroom was obviously recently remodeled and gave us great hot showers every morning. We told Irene what were looking for and she customized our itinerary, giving us a few tips that went well beyond our expectations. Before we arrived, I had forgotten to mention my gluten-free diet and she made sure I had my eggs and fruit ready and waiting in the kitchen every morning. We couldn't have felt better even if we were at home. Between Art and Kitsch is the best value we have found in a long time.

Great location and good sized room, nice ensuite that looked fairly new.
Room had TV and fridge and good views.
Owner helpful but wasnt expecting us even though we had booked.
Room and house was constantly smelling of fag reak, not nice, self service breakfast quirky but only good if you like cold meat and bread, never any cereals, never any juice even though that was what was requested. Was a work trip and dont really have time to cook own breakfast before leaving each day so bread was staple start to the day...hardly a breakfast though the coffee machine was great.
Amsterdam isnt cheap and its a struggle to find any value anywhere but at 100 euros a night plus taxes with self serve bread and clothes smelling of smoke doesnt inspire.
Lastly they only accept cash, meaning you need to keep substanial cash aside for end of visit.
This may suit some visitors but if you have allergies, hate steep stairs or are a non smoker stay away.

the owner, irene, made us feel very welcome and at home. location was great near museums and concert hall and the neighborhood has many nice and reasonably priced restaurants. the communal self service breakfast room was very convenient. the stairs were a little bit of a challenge, but thats amsterdam. wonderful city and hospitable people. highly recommended and a good value...that's it...goodnight Irene

Between Art & Kitsch is a real gem of a B&B. The decor of our room was beautiful, funky and pretty unique, overlooking the canal and like a real little apartment in itself. The bed was ridiculously comfy, the shower had great water pressure, and the room proved a great place to crash after a busy day's walking and exploring. The location was wonderful too, close enough to the centre by tram but away from the hustle and bustle, with bars, restaurants and bike rental all nearby. Only a short walk from the daily street market, Museumplein and the Vondelpark, it was truly perfect. Irene is such a cool, friendly and helpful host and gave some great tips on how to get the best of the city. As first time visitors we followed them to the letter and they never failed to impress. We were greeted so warmly that the place really felt like home, and the self-catered kitchenette for breakfast only added to the relaxed feel and sense of complete freedom. We loved our stay here and would return in a heartbeat!
