“Simply amazing--could not have asked for more!”

My boyfriend and I just returned from a 10 day visit in Amsterdam and the fabulous Heren Bed and Breakfast. It could not have been lovelier--wonderfully stylish, quiet and private room with spectacular shower, comfortable bed, fresh flowers every day and a scrumptious breakfast, all with a perfect, central location. It was nearly like having our own apartment in Amsterdam--only with the added bonus of a wonderful and HUGE breakfast prepared for us--complete with living room overlooking the Singel canal and a simply beautiful kitchen for guest use where we cooked a couple of lovely dinners from the local organic market that Vlad told us about. Despite the B&B being entirely booked, we barely saw anyone else--except at breakfast and our privacy was very well respected (something you definitely do not get at a lot of bed and breakfasts).

Amazing! Everything was just perfect and Ken and Vlad are the perfect hosts and so helpful during our stay, full of wonderful advice and recommendations. They even offered to arrange an emergency dentist visit for us (thankfully, we ultimately did not need to take them up on their offer.)

Don't look further. Stay here!

“Yes, this is The Place where to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 November 2009

Having myself visited Amsterdam 4 times , my husband 6, when we decided to come here with our 3 kids and were looking for an apartment: The place was found in Tripadvisor and we agree with all the former comments: This is it!
We stayed 10 nights at the Herenstraat apartment (ground floor), with short walking distance just anywhere, very nice shops around, quiet street (mostly bikes...), Jordaan as well really near... The tram stops are not too close but on the other hand you can easily walk all the way! The main Railway station is easily reachable - we visited for instance Haarlem and Leiden + Keukenhof - but not too near for causing any inconveniences.
As having an apartment we were able to have our breakfasts and suppers without any fuss. On the other hand our kids loved tasting all the specialities of various kitchens available in Amsterdam during lunchtime.
We also loved the old building and its unique atmosphere. For our children seeing this type of surroundings is as well an experience itself. But if you are afraid of narrow corridors, staircases that wouldn´t match any standards of today etc. you´d better find some other place.
As we know Amstedam fairly well we did not need too much advice but anyway it was crystal clear: Our hosts were real professionals, most hospitable and worth all the praise written about them earlier in Tripadvisor. And they have kept the prices really affordable...

If there only were several places like this where to stay!

“Fantastic place, fantastic people”

I should have done this months ago, but just never got round to it. We stayed at Heren's extension, Maes B&B, in March 2009 for three nights, and we had a great time. Our room was more like a little suite with an enormous bathroom on the top floor. The bed was one of the most comfortable that we have ever slept in at any hotel or B&B. Breakfast was a great start to the day with an incredibly choice & only the nicest things. It was fun to share the kitchen table with other guests and have some nice conversation before starting our day. The owners and staff were very nice and helpful, and we fell in love with the little Italian restaurant that they recommended.
Personally, I think that the part of Amsterdam that the B&B is located in is one of the nicest and quietest to be staying as a tourist, and very close to all the main attractions and the city centre. Also, we did check the general price level for accommodation in Amsterdam, and Heren B&B is very much in the (lower) average, while providing a truly excellent service. Next time we need a place to stay in Amsterdam, they will definitely be our first choice!

“Fantastic stay at Heren B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 June 2009

My husband, toddler and I stayed in the attic room at Heren B&B. It's a large room with separate sleeping and living areas, and a refrigerator. The room was clean, well presented and as safe as a guest room can be for a toddler. The property is old (late 17th century) and has the steep, narrow stairs typical of old Amsterdam buildings. Our daughter loved climbing the three flights up to the attic room, and the door in the floor of the room meant that it could be closed and keep her from falling down said stairs.

The communal kitchen, terrace and complimentary computer were lovely and full of fresh flowers; the breakfasts were huge and delicious (especially the croissants and mini pancakes!); and the atmosphere relaxed and friendly -- especially good with a toddler.

Our hosts, Ken and Vlad, were friendly and incredibly helpful. We mainly saw Vlad and he was fantastic. This has been one of our best lodging experiences and we'll definitely recommend Heren/Mae's B&Bs to others -- as well as stay there again if we return to Amsterdam.

“The Best Bed & Breakfast Experience We've Had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 April 2009

We stayed in the attic/loft, which was very spacious with a sitting room and had front/back views. There was a steep spiral staircase to the loft, which we had read warnings about prior to our trip, but we didn't think it was a big deal, however we are "fit", and we packed 1 backpack each for 6 days, so they were easy to haul up the stairwell. Our host Vlad was wonderful and provided good general and dining advice and had a great sense of humor. Other staff were friendly and helpful as well. Breakfast was served from 9-11am and included fresh fruit, yogurt, various pastries and breads, little pancakes, ham, cheese, coffee, tea, etc; it was incredible. The neighborhood was great as it was beautiful and within walking distance of Central Station, Dam Square the Anne Frank House and much more. Note there was also a small refrigerator in the loft; a television; and "fresh flowers." We felt our privacy was always respected; and we felt our property was safe and secure at this bed and breakfast.
