Within a day I felt I was living at home and Peter Boogaard was a dear friend. As a solo traveler, it is nice to feel like someone is paying attention to you and is interested in helping you with your plans and hearing about your day. He truly wants to ensure that you have a wonderful time. And the breakfasts are beyond fabulous - I never needed to eat lunch! The bedroom was lovely and sharing the charming living room with just one other bedroom was a nice bonus and an opportunity to meet and share with other travelers. The location is very convenient - I walked everywhere that I wanted to go from this central location. Quite frankly I did not want to leave. I will definitely return.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about Peter Boogaard, the innkeeper and proprietor of Boogaard’s B&B. He was extremely welcoming when we showed up early, having just flown in from the states. He was very helpful in assisting us to plan our days and to navigate the city, and pointing us toward restaurants in the evening.

Peter made the most fabulous breakfasts, without ever repeating himself during our 5 day stay. We found that these substantial meals held us through our 5 hour excursions to the museums; and he always had fresh-baked goodies available in the common room for afternoon or evening snacks.

On our next-to-last day, I twisted my ankle stepping off a curb. Peter was extremely helpful arranging for a doctor’s appointment, calling a cab, and lending me a cane to take with us to Bruges. His kindness and concern smoothed over what could have been an unpleasant experience while on vacation.

Our accommodations at Boogaard’s were very comfortable and gracious. The queen-size bed was comfortable with excellent bed linens. We had a shared sitting room that was not only charming and cozy, but had a convenient wet-bar with refrigerator, coffee machine and electric tea kettle.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Amsterdam, in no small part due to Peter. Boogaard’s is everything we could hope for in a Bed and Breakfast. Thank you Peter.

My husband and I concur with the other rave reviews about Boogard's. It is an easy walk from the central train station. The rooms were extremely comfortable and cozy. I am always concerned about rooms that are cold in the winter, but that was not the case here; they were neither too hot nor too cold. Peter, our host, was welcoming and attentive, seeing to our every need. We particularly appreciated the free maps and selection of guidebooks, which helped us plan our itineraries. Our main objective was to visit 3 art museums in 3 days: the Hermitage, Rijksmuseum and VanGogh Museum. We bought our tickets for these online in advance through the link Peter had provided on the Boogard's website, a convenience that saved us time and money, because we printed them off at home before our trip. After a day in the museum, we took the tram back to our neighborhood and ate at one of the local pubs recommended by Rick Steves. Then we enjoyed walking home along the canals. We never needed to buy dessert, because coffee, tea and pastries were waiting for us! Peter even prepared a boxed breakfast for us to take with us for our early-morning transcontinental flight home. Thank you, Peter! We hope to be back in the near future!
