Me and my partner came to Amsterdam on the 23/05/05 and stayed for 4 nights at the Noah's ark bed and breakfast in Druivendrect (if that is how it is spelt) just outside the city and a short train ride into Amsterdam. It was E360 for the stay and well worth the money. The room was excellent, huge and service was outstanding. The 2 owners were lovely. If you are looking for a nice, quite place to stay away from the city, i would definalty recommend this.
The only downside was the fact that you had to get the train to and from Amsterdam which limited your time there as you had to catch the last train back at night but hey, it was still awesome.
If you are travelling to Amsterdam there are a few places i would recommend seeing. They are Anne Frankes House and the Sex museum (not for the faint hearted i might add) and as for coffe shops, our favourite of all time has to be La Canna, the largest and most fun coffeshop we visited.
We are returning in November, for a long weekend and can't wait. Amsterdam is No. 1 for a fun filled holiday, beats sitting at the beach any day!!!
