At first glance, it might seem like a good idea to stay at the Shelter Jordan. Sounds like a pleasant place that's very affordable, right? False! Here's a recommendation: if you want to stay somewhere in Amsterdam that has accommodations comparable to the Shelter Jordan for an even more reasonable price, go out into the city and, when you're ready to hit the hay, commit a minor misdemeanor. Soon, you'll find yourself in the caring arms of the Dutch police, and you'll enjoy a good night's sleep in an Amsterdam prison, with a nice assortment of criminal company.
Basically, this place is real sketchy. When you enter your room, you'll find a place crammed as full of beds and lockers as one of those magical tents in Harry Potter (except there's no magic involved here). You are advised not to use wire locks on the lockers because people might cut them to steal your stuff (really? if there are people in my room with wire cutting tools, I'm more afraid of what else they will do to me). In your room with you, you'll find a few nice people, and then a whole crew of scary, suspicious, overall of-not-very-good-repute people who will eye you maliciously.
Then again, they have free breakfast. So that's a positive.
