Great location to see the city on foot. Thank You to the staff of NH Amsterdam Centre who made our stay excellent. This hotel is centrally located and if you are up to walk (and this was February and average 28F daytime's and 18F evenings) this is the place for you. We were there for 4 nights and went to 5 museums, an art opening and many shops, restaurants and plazas. nothing was over 30 to 40 minutes away. Anne Frank Haus-20 min, Rijks Museum, 15 min, van Gogh museum 15 min, Rembrandt Haus 30 min, Dutch WWII Resistance Museum, 40 min. The canals were all iced over and everybody was skating at all hours. Rooms were European small so expect that but everything there was great. One thing to remember when you are walking is that pedestrians do not have the right of way. There are specific routes for bikes so stay out of them as you would a street.
The only thing I would criticize were the carpets in the halls. They seemed soiled but with so much winter snow melt outside it was easy to see that this was tracked in.

This was my second stay at this hotel and I would not hesitate to stay here again.
The only difference between this stay and the last was that my room seemed slightly smaller but not much and this time there was no bathrobe or slippers provided ( no great hardship but I thought that was a nice touch ). Apart from that my original revue ( see below ) still stands

Upscale 4 star hotel next to Leidespelin Square were all the action is. Rooms well appointed, clean and up to date. Front desk staff, some were very, very nice and others not so much. Rather expensive, try Priceline.com, city center area, and we got it for $75 a night. They may not put you in the best room because of it, but who is ever in their room much in Europe.
Room was very, very nice. Had an issue with the wind throught the window and making a sound in the vent at night. Put a towel in the window and closed it to stop the noise. Free Wifi in the lobby only. Would stay here again for the location and restaurants and nightlife, but only at the price we got it for.
