Rooms are good, toilet is not good because its litle but you are not going to sleep in toilet :). Brekfast was perfect.

As I said you can be a lot closer to things for the same or less money and if you are going to stay here I would strongly recommend getting a GVB chipkaart ( http://www.gvb.nl/english/travellers/tickets-and-fares/Pages/GVB-24-48-72-96-hour-tickets.aspx ) if you don’t you will spend a fortune on trams getting to here and back again as there is nothing to do in the surrounding area.

The hotel is not hard to find once you get past wondering if you have strayed into a residential area. The service we received was friendly and the staff seemed to be pretty eager to please although we did not spend a much time other than sleeping and having breakfast in the hotel.

On the subject of breakfast I would recommend spending the little extra and get it included as the quality was OK (Not great and we were there around 8am each day which is approx 30 min’s after it started) but by Amsterdam standards good value for money.

We paid extra for a king size bed, this was unbelievably soft but the sheets did seem to be clean. The room was in the front of the building and overlooked the road / tramlines but with the windows closed and the shutter down the noise intrusion from outside was minimal when we were trying to sleep.

The room seemed to be clean but looking around the items in it and the décor were very tired, every piece of furniture in the room looks like it has seen a lot of wear and the fan in the room was broken but in the main it was OK for somewhere to put your head down for a day or two.

Unfortunately the bathroom was the one place that really let the hotel down, this area was not cleaned very well at all and the shower was covered in other people’s hair, which also appeared to be blocking the shower drain and resulted in us standing in an inch of water in the bathroom.

All in it was not an awful place to stay but if we do go back to Amsterdam we won’t be staying here.

This hotel is quirky, but really good value for the price.

The Good.
Extremely close to the tram (2 minutes walk to two different tram lines). This made it easy to get to the city center and lots of attractions. The beds were comfy, everything was clean. Cute touches like candies on pillows. Staff was helpful and friendly. The European Continental breakfast was Great and featured fresh fruit and lots of good stuff to start your day like breads, pastries, hard boiled eggs, cheese and cold cuts. Free high speed internet right in the room.

The Less Good
The room was a bit hot, but included a great big fan which was helpful. Some things in the room didn't work, one of the lights for example. There is no lift and the stairs are steep and twisty. Be prepared for this! Despite its quirky and interesting design, you can see that the hotel is a little bit run down. Theres not a ton of stuff in the immediate vicinity so if you want to be in the center of it all - this isn't it.

Overall
This made a great base from which to explore Amsterdam. Loved the quiet location, easy to get to from the airport by train and tram. Easy to get to shopping and sight seeing. Breakfast was excellent, would definitely stay here again.

It's the first time we stayed at Amsterdam, and this hotel was quite correct. Clean, simple, breakfast is included and good. It is a bit far from the center of Asmterdam (20 minutes of tram) and price could been see as expensive (100€ / night for a room with two people), but we didn't find lower price in Amsterdam for hotel (Amsterdam is pretty but expensive city).
