“How do I hate thee? Let me count the ways.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Dutch hotel chains are seldom very good but this one reaches previously unfathomable depths. I should have guessed that its status as the only hotel for miles around with ANY availability during a major trade show was a clear indication that even the cockroaches would rather stay somewhere else.

A few things I hate about this place:
* The location - miles from anywhere and with nothing around to see or do
* The reception stinks of smoke because nobody closes the door on the 'smoking room'.
* The receptionist - young, blonde, arrogant and extraoridinarily rude
* Receptionist ignored me for several minutes to finish a heated phone call with what sounded like a friend.
* Charged me for two nights full payment on my credit card up front (despite having a card number to guarantee the room) telling me "That's normal with us" - normal for you doesn't make it RIGHT or normal in anyone else's standards
* After charging us for two nights we got 'fast check out invoices' after one night - clearly expecting us to leave a night early even though we'd paid.
* Restaurant menu is very dull
* Breakfast buffet with no glasses, no plates, no bowls and coffee that tasted like it had stewed for weeks
* We couldn't get into the car park to get the car - took 10 minutes to get them to open the barrier. And the car park is NOT free - it's charged at 15 euros a night.
* When we returned the card keys had been deactivated - nasty blonde reception lady claimed it was our fault because 'The key doesn't work if you put it near a phone or metal things' - strange that this is the ONLY hotel in the universe to invent that excuse when they've deactivated the keys because they got your booking wrong.

We had to pay nearly €150 euros for single occupancy rooms in this really third-rate hotel. I don't expect a lot from a Dutch hotel but this is a really really rubbish place to stay.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere - please

“Decent hotel, reasonable location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Stayed in this hotel last week and found it convenient and accessible by car. It also has a free parking.

Rooms were spacious and clean. Even the corridors and bathroom were clean. It also had a reasonable restaurant that served okay food and offered average breakfast.

Given price, ambiance, location and service, this does not offer any differentiation but there was nothing that stops me from coming again.

“Cheap and pleasant outside of the centre of Amsterdam”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

I stayed here for my annual visit to Amsterdam for IBC.

The hotel is not in the centre of Amsterdam and will cost you about 30€ for a taxi from the Dam square to the hotel. The metro train is 1km walk from the hotel and will take you to RAI and central station. Positive points about the hotel is that there is a fairly good buffet breakfast, elevator (not always available in Amsterdam) foyer with smoking room if your interested, free wifi and baggage holding room. I also found the staff very friendly and willing to have a conversation, very much felt welcome here.

On the downside, the room is bare with some essentials for business travellers missing. There was no iron or ironing board in the room though there is a desk where you can setup your laptop if you need to work. A mini bar is available but with a very bare choice of goods to choose from. The bed was very uncomfortable and looked to be of a very cheap variety. The TV is under 20" and offers about 30 channels of local and international TV. Towels and soap is available but that is it, recommend you bring your own toiletries to this hotel if you are staying there.

Overall, in comparison to hotels that are available for more in the centre of Amsterdam, this hotel was at least clean, the room was larger than a coffin and the bathroom was large enough for the toilet and shower not to be on top of each other. I would stay there again if I had to but would much rather be downtown for convenience, in the end, during IBC, you are only in the hotel for somewhere to sleep. I give it 3 out of 5 stars which defiantly matches its rating.

“Everything within 10 minutes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

City center is 10 minutes from Hotel, Schiphol airport is 10 minutes too & even nearest Tram stop is also 10 minutes, to sum it up "Everything within 10 minutes".
Rooms are very clean & comfortable. Beds were excellent.
State-of-the-art security system, with multiple access control by key card. You can use the free internet computer in the lobby and relax in the smoking lounge/bar. Its value for money, considering the location.

Room Tip: Take room closer to "floor double door" to reduce extra, as there are long alleyways.

“Why I haven't checked TripAdvisor before?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2011

The hotel is a disaster.
Located in the middle of nowhere, priced as though in the city center.
The room I had was tiny, gloomy and smelly.
I traveled alone and chose this hotel because of its relative proximity to the airport where I had a layover... what a mistake. Advertised as a "deal" with 1 person occupying twin room - but I was charged full price, incl. 2 breakfasts (who consumed a second one?)
I don't normally check hotel bills, but now I will.
...wrote them back asking for clarification. One week since - no reply.
Not that I would have expected any reply since the staff is not polite even in person, let alone emails...

STAY AWAY.
