“Nice Hotel Good Location Stayed September 2011”

Pleasant hotel and good location, Staff where very pleasant and helpful
This hotel features a lift which is rare in Amsterdam as you would not want to navigate the
spiral stairs.
Room was comfortable although not very large it was adequate and good bathroom facilities.
Breakfast was continental with a fair choice of meats cheese and fruit.
Easy to get to by tram 25 and 4 and not far from the heineken expieriance.
We stayed 3 days and it is better to buy a ticket to cover the longer period we bought by the day which was not cheap.
Museams are expensive so if you want to visit get a multi ticket if you like culture, dam square
busling , popular, rembrandt square is a nicer option and enjoyed a couple of nice meals in the restuarants. Would stay again.

“Very nice and welcoming place in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

Location was perfect for us. It was quite and close to the museums we intend to go, Leidesplein area and the Market. Also a supermarket is very close by (other side of the the canal) where we find good products just before coming back.
Breakfast was good and the atmosphere was quite and welcoming.
The standard room was very tiny and with simple furnitures but the shower and toilet part was wide and comfortable.
The transportation was very good- Tram 4 and 25 and some other lines - 100 meter from the hotel.
We certainly recommend - but take the larger room even if you have to pay more.

Room Tip: Take the bigger rooms!

“Well located, friendly hotel but small (single) rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

Starting with the good news: the hotel has a nice, fairly quiet location near Frederiksplein and Singel canal - the main museums, Leidseplein (the Leicester Square of Amsterdam) and the Albert Cuyp street market are all within 15 minutes' walk. The nearest tram stop (Frederiksplein; lines 4 & 25 to Centraal, 7 & 10 to Leidseplein & Jordaan) is 2 minutes' walk away. The staff is friendly and speaks good English (as does everyone in the city), the breakfast was OK (although no toaster), and my shower was new & powerful.

The worse news was that I had the smallest single room imaginable (a single bed, TV, wardrobe, small desk & chair) and it was too far from the reception for the free WiFi to get a signal! So avoid room no. 38 if you want to browse. Also had some noise from the main street nearby and more from the neighbours' TVs. The decor is slightly dated but everything was clean and tidy.

Not sure if the tiny room was worth €113 that I paid per night, but I guess the location made up for it.

Room Tip: Avoid room 38 if you want to use the free WiFi - no signal!

“Fair and value for money!”

Great location - next to tram stop. Small but very clean and decent hotel. Very well maintained interiors though the room is tiny. Nice breakfast. Centrally located to see Amsterdam and at the same time the hotel lane is calm and next to a canal - nice to walk around! Recommend for city tour stay.

“Good value (and especially for RAI visitors)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

Location
If you are visiting the RAI conference center, the location is probably one the best with a stop for tram 4 just in front of the hotel; and Leidseplein and Rembrantplein are about 10-15 min walk from the hotel. (In some older maps the tram route for number 4 is outdated, but it is correct in the google maps.) There are also many restaurants already on the way to Rembrantplein. Easy access to the old city center etc. by tram as well. The location is also quite good for those who prefer quiet good night sleep without noise from a bar downstairs and reasonable walking/tram distance to places. If you want to be a bit closer to Leidseplein but still in a quiet area, for example the museum area might be even just slightly better location for you, for example Bilderberg Hotel.

Hotel
The breakfast was good and was included in the price, which seems to be rare. I don’t remember seeing it in our reservation form via hotels.nl, but the Wi-Fi was free as well; the codes are in the hotel book in the room. There were some problems with the connection at about 10 am in several mornings, but since we originally thought we would need to pay extra for the connection, this did not bother us too much. Otherwise the hotel was small, beautiful and very fresh with good new beds, elevator and a doorman during the nighttime. Our room was a bit warm during the daytime even though it was only about 20 C outside, but you can open the large windows.

Other
Café Kale just across the street served excellent simple meals. There are plenty of lower-quality tourist-trap steakhouses in the busier areas. Few blocks south from the hotel is the bazaar area with some tourist-stuff but you can also get some freshly fried waffles there.

All in all I would recommend this place and would stay again.
