We arrived half an hour before our allocated check-in time, but our room was available and so they let us check in early, which was a lovely touch. Mimi the cat was taking a break, the weather was quite cold and she had decided to hide behind the reception computer where it was nice and warm!
Our room was on the top floor, and the stairs are just as steep as everyone keeps saying. The room itself was small but functional, though the chair in the bathroom between the sink and angled roof was a curious addition - I'm quite skinny but was completely unable to make use of it!
The bed was really comfortable, the room was warm, breakfast was fine, the staff were all lovely (and being able to take a couple of guidebooks from reception to our room was great), and while we took a slightly awkward route to get to the hotel, once you get your bearings and start to learn the city you realise how well-located the hotel is.
