I have been staying here 2 times before. Will never go back, and i have warned friends never to rent from this owner. Let me explain: I friend of mine that i have known for many years came to visit me. When he left, this older owner of the apartment stood outside talking to someone in the street and said to me so that my friend could hear: "You should know that we dont accept prostitutes in our apartment". I was shocked. He called my friend a prostitute. Probably because my friend is younger than me and black.

This is a true sttoy. I asked him to apologize and just got rude remarks back. My friend will never pass this place again, not even in the street.

These people are crazy - never EVER rent from them!

Our apartment was just perfect for the four of us. We had everything for those three nights - towels, bed linen, iron, hoover, all kind of utensils and plates in the kitchen, althought we never ate at home.. Very comfortable, warm, close to everything (5mins walk to Dam Square! and the station!)! It is also perfect for families, or for anyone staying for a long period - everything neccessary for cooking, coffee machine, fridge, toaster, kettle.. Living room was big enought, with comfy chairs and sofas, nice tables..

Hint: Ask for the internet password when you move in, it's not written anywhere!
One and only disadvantage: No hair drier! (bring your own!)

It sounds really strange to me that other travelers didn't like this place. The room was huge, had a double bed and a sofa that became also a double bed, all the cooking facilities, including the whole tableware set. The shower was also great, the water was hot and both the towels and the lindens were clean and tidy. As we got there, David, our host, was extremely nice, there was no such thing as charges in advance for whatsoever.

All we were told to do was to take the lindens out, fold them and place them in a bag, provided by David. Also we took the trash out. Which sounds pretty fair to me, since I would do the same thing if I was staying at a friends house or something like that.

The location is perfect, a mere 5 minute walk to the Centraal Station and maybe a 10 meter walk to the heart of the Red Light District. And not only that, many restaurants, coffee-shops, supermarkets, stores, anything you can ask for. The alley was really safe and quiet, I guess all the noise we got there was maybe produced by people walking by and talking normally. We stayed there from Friday through Monday, so, despite the city was quite crowded, I would never complain about the noise.

This is definitely a hidden gem. In my opinion, so far, the best place to stay at Amsterdam.

I totally agree with Kidids when he mentions being civilized. If you are coming in a friend group, thinking that you can do anything, turning the place into a real mess and then just leave, you should really be extra-charged by your lack of education. But, if you can deal with they're very simple rules, like folding your bed clothes when you leave, you should have an awesome stay.

I really don't understand why the hell this place keeps getting all those bad reviews. The studio was HUGE, extremely clean and had probably the best location in Amsterdam - which is close to the Centraal Station and the Red Light District, but even so very quiet and safe. David, our host, was very nice to us. He did show up in time and actually let me and my brother finnish our beers before proceeding check-in. No extra charge was made. No absurd request about cleaning or anything. As long as you are a nice, civilized person and READ THE WHOLE DISCLAIMER before booking it, you will certanly find no problem whatsoever. I will definetly go back to Amsterdam and I will ALWAYS stay at ECAA from now on. If you want the wildness and the fun, it's right there; but if you want to escape from all that is just as easy. Really, it's unbeatable. So don't believe those nonsense jibberish people are writing here and go there without any fears. I promise you wont regret.
