I have stayed at this campsite a few times, always in my 2 man tent. I have always had good experiences.
The tram from the centre takes about 10 minutes and it's a bit of a hike from the metro station (About 15 minutes). When you approach the site for the first time you cannot avoid being a little nervous, especially as you decend the heavily graffitied footbridge in the middle of nowhere. However, it's actually a nice area.
The check in "box" is well staffed but there's always a queue of people as the campsite is large and heavily populated. The staff have always been friendly with me. They have a nice shop which sells general equipment as well as food and drinks (Reasonable prices and well stocked).
The campsite actually has a few fields to pitch your tent in. However, on all three of my visits my area has been chosen for me and it's always been full of dope smoking youngsters. This isn't a problem. However, I have never had the choice despite each time arriving with my girlfriend and both of us displaying no obvious signs of being drug users. I find it a bit sad that a young couple with no interest in drugs might find themselves thrown in with the hippys which could spoil their stay. But then, what young couple are visiting Amsterdam without smoking weed?..
A good place to camp but there's a lot of litter about.
