This campsite is pretty awful. Despite the already terrible reviews we went ahead and chose it over Zeeburg and Gaasper because of the location but i can certainly say i wouldn't stay there as a couple or family again. I wouldn't recommend this campsite to anyone other than large groups of young lads or girls, it's like camping at a festival.
I can sadly confirm:
The staff are very rude and treat you like an enemy before you even open your mouth.
There are no refunds so book only 1 night at a time.
The tent fields are very very crowded, you will be touching canvass with the people next door.
The bathrooms only have UV light so forget shaving or women doing your make up.
The toilets have no seats.
You don't get much sleep because of the constant noise so your best bet is to party with the noise makers.
When it rains the place becomes a swamp.
Finally, i like a smoke as much as the next man, as long as that next man isn't staying at Camping Vliegenbos, come on people... Its 8 in the morning!!!

And because i always like to look on the positive side:
Reception will charge your phone/camera for 50 cents.
The shop is pretty good but expensive.
Location is better than the other campsites.
Price is cheaper than a budget hotel.

What you need for a camping. Close to center.
Limited parking.

I am not recomment Camping Vliegenbos because staffs in this camping site are very rude to you and unhelpful when we need some help from them. This camp site just want your money and they could not care less if you are ok in this camp site.....

I have been to camping vliegenbos over 5 times now. The campsite is really easy to get to and fro Centraal Station but only by bus. The campsite has cabins which are excellent but in my opinion too expensive. Camping costs 10 euro for a night and the toilets/showers are regularly cleaned, hot water could as always be hotter ! Camping Vliegenbos has a nice shop where you can get fresh baked bread in the mornings. Do not be late checking out i.e. 11am or you will be charged for an extra night. They also take your passport as security and give you a sign to put on your tent (please remember to put up or you will be woken up during the night by some guy with a torch). Camping is so much more fun when the weather is good and on the whole I would prefer a cheap hotel but these are difficult to find in Amsterdam. The staff were very friendly and helpful on the odd occasion I needed them. Amsterdam is an expensive city, especially Euro vs Pound at this time so I think the value is fair but was many years ago much better. Camping Zeeburg is a long walk from the nearest bus stop, this campsite has the bus stop on its door !
