During christmas which is last month December 2011, I stayed in this hotel just for 2 nights and it was really comfortable in all aspects, the staff, the food, the service, the cleanliness and so on.

Though it's just been refurbished but they made it to complete at the right time.

Newly refurbished rooms make your stay as good it should be in Amsterdam, staff also really helpfull and willing to support you in any matter. Location is the best in town !!

Only thing to add on is the small space for the breakfast, they should either make it in a bigger room or extend the breakfast time in order everyone fit their short time (up to 10 am), what is early for Ams atmosphere : ) !

There does appear to be a reasonable amount of criticism made against this hotel, and whilst it is very basic, it still should be considered if on a budget.
Yes, the rooms are small and the bathrooms a little cramped, however to its credit, they are clean and reasonably comfortable,
Quite simply, if you want a hotel with a little luxury, you will need to look elsewhere and be prepared to pay more, however if you are looking for a well located, no - frills hotel of good value, then this certainly deserves consideration.

While small, rooms are quite functional and comfortable. I was there for two nights in January and found it a good value, close to the tramline, museums and restaurants. Quiet tree lined street with beautiful period architecture. Not for people with mobility problems or expectations of 5 star ammenities, recommended for the adverturous at heart.
